DH and I went yesterday and opened his IRA. This was money left over from Dec. paycheck. Not sure how much we will be able to contribute each month but we have gotten off to a good start. Yay for us!

Every year people go through this nonsense, and give up when they realize that the results they want mean that they will have to change their ways. The gyms are packed for now, but the people who care more about eating crap and being lazy will soon return to their ways. Only a handful will be able to make long lasting change, and will be better because of it.
Then those that failed will look at those who succeeded and will spin any excuse as to why the situation was different, or the other had an advantage. It couldn't POSSIBLY because of hard work or discipline.

Everyone have to start somewhere, and if the beginning of the year is the starting point, so be it.

We have hit our contribution target for the past 3 years. The 'sucky' part had to do with other aspects of our life.

Good for you, Happy. The journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step, etc. Esp. if you set up automatic contributions.

Way to go! We have spent the first weeks of this new year having our furnace repaired and our car repaired. Spent $880+ that we didn't really have and this new year is only getting started...
