The whole area where I grew up is a pretty depressed area. Not a lot of industry, if it weren't for the tourists in the summer, it would be pretty dead.

OMG, I wouldn't want to live in towns with less than a few thousand people. That's too much like high school - everyone knows everyone.

You never have to worry about anything because everyone looks out for everybody. I loved it. And when the kids were young they could run the town and not have to worry

I lived in small towns growing up and I didn't like it. Too many busy-bodies and small minds. The town I live in has about 40,000 people and I love it.

But its different when you are an adult, Kids dont like it because they cant get away with anything. Its not like if people see then acting up it will be strangers, and chances are the one thats ees them will straighten them up

I don't need other people parenting my kid for me. That's just not what I want for myself or my family. It's one thing to be close to your neighbors - I actually look forward to that when we purchase a home - but I don't need everyone in town knowing my family's business. That's just how I feel.

Well I didnt mind it. If my boy was acting up I wanted him to know people saw him. I have no problem with people i know calling him on his behavior

I think a lot of it depends upon how/where you were raised. I could never live in a big city or even in town for that matter, but I grew up on a farm. If I had been raised in the big city I would probably feel differently.

You're right Kimber. It also depends on your experiences and personal taste. I was raised in a very small town until my parents divorced, and then in a bigger but still small town until I graduated high school. I felt stifled and out of place. College provided me with the outlets and diversity I needed. From that point on, I strived to live in diverse and populous places.
