ATTENTION SHOPPERS!
If you're checking in on stupid Columbus day or if you just want to run away, don't rip your brain out just yet. Home cures for everything from kiddie sleepovers to sleepwalking to birthday requests haven't been forever lost in the insomiac thread.
Have you been taken advantage of?
Do you not know where the satellite landed, or are you just mellowing out in a coffee shop wondering how many e-mail addresses you have?
Whatever your life situation—praying, job searching, dosing up on cuteness, or missing your 10-month-old baby—Sparty's Slacker Shack will have you wondering why you never tried our new restaurant. "Death is the best invention of life," as Christmas store displays remind us, and when R2D2 is front and center getting married and leaving out a few details, 20% savings and California pot crackdowns are yours for the taking.
Don't settle for a two-year marriage contract, and don't spend your Saturday running late while Al Davis passes away. Join the ranks of Wangari Maathai, once a crackberry pusher who needed shoes and help with all the TV shows she was watching, transformed into a successful smurf M&M saleswoman.
So if Halloween announcements are getting under your skin or if joking around in the karma thread is pinned to the top of your wish list, call today.
1-888-EE-GO-NUTS.
That's 1-888-EE-GO-NUTS.
Don't waste one more second.
That number again is 1-888-EE-GO-NUTS. Operators are standing by now.

Virgil, Virgil, Virgil....that whole post is so wrong, and indicates that you have far too much time on your hands today. It is, however, incredibly funny.

Either that, or he's been hitting the bottle of Wild Turkey a bit too much.

I was faced with the problem of how to demonstrate the collective absurdity of the EE thread index... to EEers. ETA: It's not that the threads are individually nutty. But for a single board, it's like walking into a store that sells Rolex watches, pickled herring, whoopie cushions, leather recliners, and bulk toilet paper.

But...but...you don't need to do that. We already know how collectively absurd we are. A demonstration proves nothing (except that maybe someone is watching us long enough to bother putting together said demonstration.)

True, we can be absurd, but ya' gotta give us credit; We're consistent.

And if you have coupons, this becomes a YM/SS/WIR thread, too. Of course, if any products are not made in America, then P&M gets involved, and then the tin foil flies!

You have a mild appreciation. It's a rare nutter indeed who fathoms the full extent of his/her nuttiness.

I can totally fathom mine. The rest of you....not so much. And as for you, Virgil: I'm not sure my medicine cabinet currently holds an antidote for the workings of your over-the-border mind.

Say what you will about P&M, or even SS, but they sell... cars. Or rugs. Or battered haddock. They have their own 'themes', like delightful glue that keeps their threads on the rails. Only in EE can you find a conversation about Steve Jobs' dying words next to a communal discussion on "where the satellite is going to land".

I think Virgil's got a lot of free time on his hands today since it's Thanksgiving in his neck of the woods. I guess they didn't trust him to be in charge of the turkey -- or maybe you're his turkeys. ;D

The difference being that Sam's is a country mile wide while EE is equivalently a 20' x 20' corner store.

Only if you can tell them a five word story about your weather or shelter animals while you improve their karma.

You're right, MDW. Even the Games forum has all kind of non-games-related stuff on it now. The only forum on this board that isn't totally screwy is Market Talk. Maybe IBB a little bit, but Rovo let Yclept take at least two threads there off into Kurzweilian fantasyland, so mostly just Market Talk. Cold, hard facts and figures. Predictable topics. Structured conversation. Everything fitting nicely into place. It brings solace to the weary heart.

Seriously? It's too early for Thanksgiving, but OK, fine, it's Canada.
So, Virgil....what kinds of food traditions are associated with your holiday?
