Thanks Kathy. It was under $3 and I could see it meant a lot to him. Since I spent the unplanned $3, I made myself walk past the McDonald's in Walmart on the way out and go eat a Lean Cuisine I had at home. So helping him helped my waistline. ;D

I may try DG one more time but the other location. OOTY, if you put together a scenario for the next $5/25 please let me know. I saw what you did after the fact and it was really good. I ventured into Walmart last night bc I needed a baby gate and they had some for $10. So I checked a few of the close to free deals. I got 8 Aquafresh trial sizes 3¢ overrage, 4 Scopes for 99¢ each, and then some groceries I needed. I always avoid that store but the coupons worked really well so maybe I'll give it a shot. May even try to price match. They were very coupon friendly. A college kid in line in front of me had a case of ramen. I gave him a Q and he was thrilled! Then his debit card wouldn't work. He said he checked his balance online and had enough. He checked his phone again while standing there and I could see his balance was $10. Poor thing. But the debit was declined for some reason. So he apologized and started to walk off and I told the cashier just put it on my order and let him take it. The kid was soooo appreciative. poor thing.

DS told me that someone did that for him a couple of months back. He was all dressed up (dress slacks, dress shirt, tie, dress shoes) and had a cart full of Kraft Mac and Cheese. The lady in front of him noticed all the Mac and Cheese and commented on it. He said, "Ya, when you're just starting out, it makes a cheap dinner." After she paid for his groceries she handed him a $10 bill and told him that he reminded her of her son. It made me .

Time to stock up on goggles and floaties for the kids next summer. My store the summer stuff has been picked over pretty well and had already gone to 90% off but I will stop by and see what is left. I will keep my eyes peeled for the next sale!

DG has become another one of my stop by and see what they have places. Got the (3)20 ct $1 Snuggle dryer sheets and used (3) $1/1, $0.24(tax) for 60 sheets...not too bad.

beachbum: I almost forgot; I didn't get any Bar-S at all. Sorry. Thanks for checking! I knew I had cleaned everyone out for the Birds eye but figured it can't hurt to ask and see if someone didn't see it that week. I must have missed all the good coupon too. My inserts seemed like a waste of good paper. I actually don't feel like shopping at all this week. My problem is I have $40 in kraft cats, have to be used for kraft items, and nothing is on sale I want. They have nabisco cookies on sale but since I got the cats from buying those same nabisco cookies we need more like we need a hole in our heads. You have a PM.

HOUND ALERT....
I could use some extras of the Good Life Recipe Cat Treats 50/1 and the Millstone Coffee $2 off 10oz or 1/2lb, both from the 10/23 RP. There's no sale yet, but I'm hoping something will come up ;D hey a girl can dream right? LOL TIA

I had a decent (albeit frustrating) trip to Kroger last night. Last week, I had some digital coupons loaded onto my card and the register accepted them AND my paper coupons with no problem. Tried the same thing yesterday and it rejected all but 2 of my 9 paper coupons And then it doubled two coupons randomly! Certainly not complaining about that part, but it's hard to plan a trip without any apparent register consistency. Anyway, ended up getting: 8 cans Progresso (on sale 8 for $10, $2/off 8 digital coupon) 2 boxes Apple Cinnamon Cheerios (2 for $5, $1/off digital coupon, $1.50/off digital coupon) 2 boxes Chex (2 for $5, $1/off digital coupon) 1 box Nature Valley Granola thins ($2.50, $0.75/off coupon (10/16 SS)) 1 box Sweet & Salty Nut bars ($2.50, $0.40/off digital coupon (doubled)) 3 rolls Pillsbury Grands (10 for $10, $0.40/off 3 coupon (doubled)) 1 Kroger-brand squeezable jelly ($2.19, $0.40/off Kroger coupon) for $23.XX, saving $24.XX. This is my first foray into the 50% savings bracket! ;D

I posted this on the healthy eating thread -- just can't seem to convince the 'non believers' that coupons are out there for all the 'food groups'. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Healthy Snack Foods -- Sunsweet Dried Apricots
Use the 55 cent off Sunsweet coupon (from the Sunsweet web site / or HCW) with this weeks Walgreen sale. 13 ozs of dried apricots -- $2.99 less .55 equals $ 2.44 -- This works out to be a 30% to 33% savings over the major food stores. So yes, there are coupon savings to be had - even on healthy foods!

Had a pretty good trip to Price Chopper yesterday. I have such a love/hate relationship with Price Chopper... I love that they now double up to .99 coupons, but hate that their regular prices are so high, that even a .75 coupon doubled does not make an item a "buy" price for me! I waste so much time wandering the aisles, checking prices on stuff I have coupons for...ugh...anyway, there were some really good deals this week: 1 4lb. Domino sugar, 2.99 - 1 in-ad q, - .65/1 doubled, .69 after q's! That .65/1 was from mom's Orlando paper so only had one, or I'd totally stock up this week! 2 Hormel 12 oz. bacon, 2.00 AC 2 Marcal napkins, .69 AC 2 Scotch Brite sponge 3 pk. , .24 AC 4 Carolina rice, .29 AC 1 Tabasco sauce, FAC 1 Keebler cookie, 1.45 AC 1 instant pudding 24 pk. deli rolls, 1.99 deli cheese 1 Yoplait light parfait, .89 AC I think that was about it...Paid $14.xx after coupons, so, pretty decent deal!

midwestern,
Our Kroger chains have stopped letting us use both the eQ and the MQ together. If you have an eQ for an item, then the paper Q gets rejected automatically. This update happened a few months ago. HTH

In the past few years, the Grocery Challenge gals have helped each other save thousands of dollars by answering HOUND ALERTS for extra coupons. Recently I got Farmer John Bacon for $1.50/lb. thanks to murphath, saveinla, and suziQ saving me an extra $28. This week leanna is hleping me get free Halloween candy (I decided to keep my Nestle bars ) and is saving me $4. So don't be shy if you find you need something.

midwestern,
I agree with dancinmama. If you need any of the GM Qs, let me know. I will not be using them and will be glad to send them to you.
constanz,
I know we got a Dominos Q, but I am not sure on what the value is. I don't use much sugar anymore, so will be happy to ship them to you if you can get a rain check.
dancinmama,
Can you explain the free candy deal - I need some candy for halloween for the school and would love to get them for free. Thanks

I sent out some of my .50/1, but I still have a couple left, if I can get back there this week I will use them to get 4 lbs for .99!

Thanks saveinla: I will, but few will be able to replicate it because it requires the use of expired CRTs for BOGO Skittles or Starburst at CVS. Even though my CVS will still take them, I avoid using them unless it lets me do a really great deal cuz I don't want them to stop taking them altogether. $10.00 (4) Skittles or Starburst Fun Size - 2.50 BOGO CRT - 2.50 BOGO CRT - 2.00 (2) $1/2 MCs ( THANKS leanna ) - 3.00 EBs 0 OOP --> Get $3 in EBs for buying $10 Rinse and repeat on another card and another day. You're lucky if you got the $1/2 MCs. I didn't get them.

Thanks dancinmama. I don't think I have either of the Qs. My best bet is Walgreens, but they have a 4 bag limit. I will probably be stopping by twice.

I also have some gum that I got for free that I will be giving out. I can't remember the brand, but they're the big packs and it changes flavor as you chew it. I try to start saving free/cheap candy at the beginning of the summer for Halloween. I got a bunch of Baby Ruth bars for free with coupons and RRs at WAGs, but with the rising cost of sugar and chocolate, I think I'll hang on to them. I'll also be looking for candy on clearance next week. There might be a surplus if people decide that Halloween candy this year is just too expensive and take a pass on the whole thing.

But beach is right, I feel like I'm being teased because the EQs are so hit and miss whether they come off.

I only load the lower value if I'm going that night need said item and that's what I'm going for and I don't a have a paper coupon. I usually wait an hour before I go, It's usually on my card by then. The only coupons that I've loaded and haven't came off is the cellfire coupons I quit using them.

That's what I hate about "Extreme Couponing" - it seems that the stores all have these types of policies in place (EQs, coupon limits, no doubling), which leads to the "OMGosh, $200!" moment at the register... then the regional manager comes out of the back room and says "Oh, this was our mistake, all these $2/off coupons are doubled and we're waiving the tax, you only owe us $4."
Sure they have the "coupon policies may vary, check your local store" blurb at the beginning, but showing deals that are in no way available to the average consumer is extremely misleading.
Thanks! And likewise. For some reason the Indy Star only carries SS, I've been trying to find a paper with RP inserts, too. Once I do, I should have extras galore! ;D
