Are you anticipating increased dividends from STI in the future? That yield looks pretty slim. Or more of a just looking for exposure to financials?

Purchased EXC at $31.65 about 11:25 est today. Good luck catching that falling knife. Here's hoping they don't end up having to cut the dividend. But given the price action we've been seeing, it looks like it's gonna happen to me.

Driftr if they cut the dividend in half it still pays 3.31%. That is a lot better than banks.
A lot of stocks are going to cut their dividend soon. We are in a hell of a mess.

Driftr Moody's affirmed EXC credit rating. Did that confirmation expect a dividend cut? If not, you may have just caught that knife my good man. Cheers!

Driftr There was no mention of a dividend cut in the article.
EXC goes xdividend Nov 13th and pays 52.5 cents on Dec 10th.

Just sold half of the EXC @ 29.94 on 11-29.
gdgyva who knows what to do anymore. Maybe we need to change positions every 30 minutes or so.
I intend to trade more often and see what kind of results I have.

If the top tax rate on dividends goes to 43.8% as scheduled the price of dividend stocks will go way down.
I suppect that is the cause of the current weakness in many of them.

Just realized I'd already updated through September, but didn't update here because i did in August. Ah well, details will need to wait until year end. Did quick checks and as expected, the balances in both the IRAs and the brokerage are down a bit from end of Q3. Cash is still accumulating though. Currently 1.25%. That's actually quite a bit for me. Been holding (or hoarding if you prefer) cash for 'the big leg down'. Might get this money working again in the next couple weeks if time at work allows. Not sure where I was planning it to go before I slowed down.

Wow. I had really fallen behind on maintaining out investment spreadsheet. Just noticed that MON & PSX each increased dividends by 25% in the most recent payments received and CSCO increased 75%. That was just in stuff held in my wife's IRA.
Looking forward to seeing what's happened in mine and our brokerage...

MCD & PM both had increases to dividends of 10% or so since I last updated. Nice.

Considering Corning now. Saw them on Bloomberg this morning. The opportunities for Gorilla Glass in cars to save on top-heavy weight. Hmmm.

Some overall YTD results
Brokerage: +3.73% My IRA: +7.59% Wife's IRA: +12.38%
Dividend income for brokerage & my IRA +13.53% versus 2011. Wife's IRA excluded because I started it for her during 2011 and year over year results would not show an accurate picture.
Total interest & dividend income +9.5% versus the forecast I had put together for 2012 early in 2011.
Hopefully in 2013 we can see some stock prices decline with dividends holding steady or slightly advancing.

Bought some PG for the brokerage today at 68.53. Let's see if they can hit year 57. :-)
Looking into more COP for my wife's IRA and trying to decide amongst more EXC, a new position in SO, or a new position in Apple (I never get the right ticker) for my IRA. Leaning towards SO because EXC is hurting (although that yield is juicey, but is it something they'll maintain) and Apple dividend is so crumby.
