I believe the story is misleading and leaves out a lot of information. It mentions nothing as I remember of the us suppling ammo to nato and to the afgan army which are large numbers nor gives a fixed number of ammo used in training. You can go to any ammo site and find 223 ammo in large quantities but true not all is nato quality ammo.

But it does raise even better questions as to why we are supplying NATO and the Afghan Army with ammo. The name "Osama bin Laden" and the 1980s timeframe comes to mind.
