We have a 2000 Nissan Altima with just over 100K miles that has not been turned on or run for about 3 years (long story). DH is considering getting it titled so he can use it as his daily driver as his current car - 1991 Grand Prix STE is starting to give him problems.
Our mechanic recommended we change the oil, filters, put gas treatment in it check belts and hoses for rot and replace as necessary. We'll replace the tires too. I'm concerned that even with these things, the gas will have gotten moisture in it and will cause problems with the engine. DH can do all of these things except replace the tires as he's always done work on his cars and has a mechanic that does some work on the side (at his regular garage with the approval of the owner).
Should we drain out the gas and replace it? If so, what do we do with the old gas?
Anything else we should do before starting it up? Is there anything we're missing?

Thanks Rick - I'll have DH drain the gas tank and take it to the shop for disposal. We aren't allowed to burn in the city so we'll have to see if we can have it disposed of.
I thought that was the case (draining the old gas out). DH didn't think we had to remove the old gas, but I said we needed to. Good to know I was right!
