i can't go long without eating something in the morning...i workout first so by the time i get to work and have a cup of coffee i'm ready to eat...lately i'll snack on a rice cake with peanut butter and jelly (natural with no added sugars or artificial sweeteners) first...i usually have some oranges, yogurt, oatmeal at work so i vary what i have after that...ocassionally, there are bagels or chick fil-a that somebody will bring in...

I woke up hungry today for the first time in a long time. Maybe I was subconsciously thinking of this thread. I had an apple.

LMAO!!! Poor Apple - fam ate her. I'm not a breakfast eater because I'm not a morning person and I'm just not hungry first thing when I wake up. I do need to have coffee with sugar, honey and 1/2 and 1/2. That's probably enough calories to qualify as breakfast. If I did start my day with breakfast I was starving by 10:30 - 11:00 a.m. That's probably why I'm able to maintain my weight - skipping the first meal of the day and just having coffee and, on occasion, a banana.

I wonder if the carrot I had for lunch was a male.

OOOO Sunny D! High fructose corn syrup is evil. Eat an orange, please! My breakfast is usually a banana when I get to the office, and oatmeal later. I don't like the sugared stuff so I enjoy it plain, and throw in bran flakes for texture. Yeah, I know, the texture is somewhat like sandpaper, but I don't mind. On the weekends I have steel-cut oats, which take longer to cook. I highly recommend Whole Foods' bulk section for the oats and the bran- far cheaper than anywhere else.

Sunny D is N A S T Y I love steel cut oats. That's often a Friday night cook in the crock pot breakfast. Smells so good the next morning, and it will take us thru the weekend & start of the new week.

Bfast is VERY important to eat. Mostly, this is the time when you want to eat your carbs and fats. Don't skip bfast people.

Government propaganda. I haven't eaten breakfast since 1990.

Government propaganda. I haven't eaten breakfast since 1990. I'm not a big breakfast eater. Never have been. I've noticed, though, that when I'm in India and stay at hotels with breakfast buffets where I can load up on vegetarian Indian food (my idea of heaven), I don't feel the need to snack all the time.

Well I do exaggerate. I've had breakfast here and there when I don't have access to coffee. But I am pretty disciplined and snacking has never been a problem unless I want it to be.

I see, so you got nothing just parroting what you've been told by the cereal makers?

no, but it seems like someone pissed in your cereal this morning.
Damn lips.. relax...read the links from my link. I even made it easier for you.
Why so uptight?

I'm not uptight nor upset. What gave you that impression? The non specific links that you didn't even bother to sort only talk about why eating breakfast can help you lose weight. This is false unless you have no self control. I'm looking for facts that back up what you say. Why is breakfast (or any other meal for that matter) so crucial? I don't eat breakfast and have no weight issues and am very healthy. Tell me why I need breakfast.

google it. You might learn something in the process. The link provided has many answers to your question. It does not "ONLY" include about bfast and weight loss. Never said that. Read my son... read...

Maybe instead of me googling it (I know quite enough about nutrition already) you should read up on it.

Yes, that would be good. Too many people just parrot what they've "heard" and have no clue what they are talking about. Be informed.

Make light of it all you want. I'm just telling you what I know. You can chose to accept the fact that I may be right or not. I care not. Good luck.

Your incessant "lol" after every sentence. If you chose to be ignorant be so, no skin off my back. Last I'll respond here on the subject so you can go ahead and have the last post, if that makes you feel better.

I ALWAYS eat breakfast!!!! Even if I have the flu and have been barfing I will NEVER miss a meal.
Now that I have been working out I have been waking up hungry, so I eat some breakfast in the car on the way to work, and some more breakfast about an hour after I get to work. Now that I have been working out, I am hungry all the time. I have been trying to keep my sugar and starch low so that I don't sabotage my working out efforts

I've heard the saying, but I would also like to know *why* breakfast is so important. I've never been a breakfast eater and have never been overweight, nor have I had any health issues, nor am I malnourished. If I'm not hungry in the morning or lacking energy, what will eating breakfast do other than ensure I have another 500 or so calories to burn for the day? I get it for people who have to do labor intensive jobs or morning work-outs, but I sit at a desk all day and barely move.
