Anyone have any experience with vitiligo? I've had patches of it for my entire life and thank god they aren't in super visible areas on my body (the only time you'd see them is if I'm wearing a tank top or bikini). Lately it looks like a few of the spots are changing, like spreading out. I only notice because they've never changed that I can remember. I'm probably going to call my doctor & see if I should do anything (my mother recommended a dermatologist), but wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on this. I don't know much about it.

I have alot of patches but only visible on my hands. None have ever spread or got larger. I have had this from birth.
I have met two people who developed theirs after one was in the Gulf war and the other said after his father suddenly died he got his.
So I took that to mean stress related. Hope your okay.

Thanks for the links guys. Yeah, I don't know much more about it than what I've read online. Riley, apparently I've had my patches since I was 3 or 4 when my pediatrician pointed them out to my mother. They took me to a dermatologist I guess, who diagnosed it and just said to keep an eye on them - parents said they didn't notice them changing when I was growing up. I have heard it can be triggered by stress. I had scarlet fever pretty severely as a toddler so that's the only thing we could come up with for the cause, since there's no family history or anything else. I think I'm going to call my doctor & see if they want to either see me or send me to a derm. Just want to make sure the changes aren't indicative of anything else going on.
