Someone told me once that drinking bleach would make you appear sicker than you are and that is what those people with Maunchasen drink to get sick enough to be admitted to the hospital. But, I can't remember the source - so who knows how reliable that statement is.

You hear all the time in the news of some family member trying to poison others by using bleach. It's not that toxic really. You'd have to drink quite a bit of it.
