I've managed to lose about 10 pounds in the last month or 6 weeks just by paying a little more attention to what I eat. Part of this is due to DH being in Afghanistan right now. I just eat less when he is not here and there is less temptation to have a bite of what he is having or to go out to eat. I'm focused on eating more veggies and I cut out a lot of my late night snacking on cheese and crackers.
Now I'm at the next step, working out. I'm hoping I can lose around another 20 pounds. I have a trip to the Canary Islands planned in late summer/early fall. I think I can reach my goal by June/Juy so I'd have a few months to maintain and rebuild my wardrobe before the trip. I'm also working on lowering my BP. The doctors ordered me to start exercising more last year, but I haven't really stuck with it. I'm hoping to rebuild good habits.

Good luck! And congratulations on the weight lost already! I started doing ab work last night trying to get ready for the summer. I've lost all the baby weight, but I need to tone up the tummy... and man am I SORE this morning!

Congratulations and good luck. I always find it helpful for weight loss to do things the hard way. Like when you grocery shop park far away from the store. If you are in a multi story building, take the stairs. Make it a point to walk to the mailbox instead of grabbing it on the way in. Just little things like that will make you more active and will help build the momentum you need to workout.

lol, small biz owner
thanks for the supportive words everyone
I'm starting today at 158 pounds and a size 8/10. I'm trying to stay off the scales and hope to just weigh in on Mondays so I don't get discouraged. I'm also taking part of a walking challenge. I got a pedometer from the gym and every monday I email in my number of miles walked. The pedometer is motivating me to walk longer. The dogs are really enjoying it.

So far so good. One hour of cardio at the gym each day and I aim to keep it up over the weekend too. In a few weeks I plan to start lifting weights in addition to cardio, but for now just one thing at a time.

One hour of cardio at the gym each day? Wow, that's fabulous! How many off-days do you plan per week? You know it's useful to let your muscles rest a little.
