Ok...so I just got back from my cruise and I am wondering about body detox. On the ship I went to a detox class that they tried to sell me the Elemix Detox program for $100 a month. After tests, they said I needed to be on it for 6-9 months. I didn't buy the program because it was just too damn expensive. My thinking is that if one should have to detox their body, then there should be a cheaper, more natural way to do it.
So has anyone ever done a detox program? What program did you use? Did you benefit from it? How long did you do it? Do our bodies NEED to be detoxed?

You don't need fancy stuff. Begin by reducing your bad fats, refined sugar and refined carbs. Replace them with the correct fats, fruits for sugar and whole grains. Lots of fresh vegs. I did a detox diet plan that GNC had in their magazine several years ago. The liver spots on my hands disappeared.
A slow reduction of replacing the incorrect foods with the correct ones will keep you from feeling deprived. One warning though. If you get fully detoxed on a pure diet, do not eat processed foods like a hot dog or lunch meat. Sly Stallone ended up in the hospital from indulging in a hot dog while on his pure diet.

It's a sham, there is no such thing as "detox".

They also recommened a more Alkaline diet. The guy said I was too acidic. I looked up the alkaline diet, and I think I would die on that. Has anyone tried it? How did it work for you? I know it isn't something I can do, I just wanted to know if anyone else has tried it and if they were successful.

Did they give you a value for the pH of your blood Angel?

I am always skeptical of diets that extol the virtues of eating more like prehistoric man did. Do we really want to aspire to be more prehistoric?

Pig...no they didn't give me a ph balance of my blood. It was based on readings off my skin.

Yeah, I'd be highly suspect if they didn't actually test the blood. The normal pH range for blood is very very narrow.
