My husband recently lost a bunch of weight.
Surprise! His allergies don't bother him, and he never snores anymore. I guess we didn't expect that.
What are some other benefits of losing weight, eating healthy and exercising that we don't know about?

Hey, that is awesome Thyme! Are you going to go out and buy him a new wardrobe? ;D (That means new clothes is my answer.)

Yes, we are buying him new stuff. His shirts are "okay" - but even those seem really wide and baggy. So, we've been replacing them. He is so tall, and now that he is skinny, it is difficult to find things that fit.

Do they sell slimmer fits at the big and tall shops? I don't shop there, so I really don't know.
I always order athletic fit shirts for my husband because regular sized ones are cut too boxy. It seems they are made for guys with a gut.

This may be common knowledge to some, but I was surprised: my hair is thicker. I've always had super fine/thin hair, but since losing 60lbs and eating MUCH more fruit/veggies my hair has really thickened. Also, my nails don't peel anymore and my gums are in better shape than ever.

Wow, skinnykids - I've never heard of that. But I will say that often times the people on the biggest loser have straggly hair at the beginning and it gets better and better looking as the season goes on. I didn't know if that was better nutrition, or if they bring in high paid professionals to give them expensive treatments so they look like movie stars by the time they leave.

Well....I wouldn't say I have movie star hair. But it is thick enough now that I'm wearing it longer than I have in years. ;D

He lost his gut and he is pretty tone. Not ripped abs or anything. I think he would have to lose another 10+ and work specifically on that. He just got down to the "healthy" range on the charts. I don't think he was quite heavy enough to have excess skin or anything. He mostly controlled his diet - so he isn't that buff-work-out guy.

BTW Horatio, when you said it was personal, and then said something about his stomach, I thought you were going to ask about his poop. He says they are significantly different, too. Let's all leave it at that.

thank you VERY much for that, Thyme! DH needs to lose weight, and he carries most of it in his belly. He has back problems & hemorrhoids that I know would go away if he'd drop some lbs. He also takes I don't know how many prescriptions (blood pressure, cholesterol, etc.) He snores so loud that I either sleep in another room or wear noise reducing headphones. I don't understand how he can not put some effort into losing weight. I've seen him slim down before (he did Nutrisystem many years ago). I know that it's not easy. Heck, it took me a year to drop 12 lbs! And I exercise and watch what I eat. With just a little effort, he'd really see results. Hopefully he'll make some changes before he dies on me That's what I keep telling him...it took me so long to find him, and I just want to have as much time together as we can.

I think the best side effect to loosing a few pounds is how much better you feel. You may not even think you feel all that bad, but shed 15-20 lbs and you really start to understand what it means to feel good. After a while it becomes addictive and then the process gets really easy.
