Hey Pig, I am looking to lose 10-15 stubborn lbs, I am currently working out 3 times per week...if I decide to try a MR and cut down on some of the craptastic fast food I eat....which do you recommend?
This would have to be something I could do at the office.
researching: Labrada, GNC, EAS so far...

Most of it is about calorie control. Make sure to check the calories per serving of what you reseach. I have had good luck with the Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard whey mix. I often use it as a snack, it's high in protein, but on the lower calorie scale.

Is this the "Ask Pig" board? No, but he does answer most of the questions, and his responses at least sound intellegent. Maybe we should start a new "Ask Pig" forum, his wisdom appears to never end.

Wasting, please don't come here anymore if you have nothing to offer. Perhaps Tom wants advice from someone who has played sports at a high level and someone who holds records and wins competitions rather than from an old lady whose only experience in exercise and nutrition is that she walks and eats. Tom, if you're at the office do you have access to a fridge? I ask because they taste like shit if you mix them with water but taste good with milk. As tractor said ON is a winner. All protein powders are not created equal. You want one that has very low carbs, fat and calories and this can vary widely by brand. At the GNC website you can compare the labels of the different brands. If you're cutting back on junk food I don't suggest stopping it completely. Give yourself a day of the week as a "cheat" day on which you eat that junk food without guilt. Doing so prevents you from feeling deprived and actually speeds metabolism. On all other days stick to around a 40/40/20 macro breakdown for protein/carbs/fats. I would suggest you use a casein protein as it's more filling and digests slower than whey which will help you feel more full. Also, just replacing a meal a day is ok but if those pounds are really stubborn or you're impatient I would add two more cardio days in addition to the 3 times a week you're doing now. You could easily take off that much weight in about 3-4 weeks. Good luck! ETA: Here's a good one: www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3531052&cp=3703232

I may be strange, but I actually like to mix mine with water. I prefer the taste over using milk, it also helps to keep the calories down. That's one thing I like about the chocolate ON, even with water, it helps to eliminate any chocolate cravings I'm having. It's much better than the vanilla or strawberry one.

I could ask the same to you for your useless comments on every other thread.

I grabbed some EAS Myoplex last night to start with. I am attempting to change the large glut lunches and meals I eat. In theory if I can do the MR smart, and spreadout several times per day, with Tuna, PB&J and protein for dinner, then I can avoid what I have been doing, which is 3 800 calories meals...obviously not working.

Good plan. I find that if I plan out all the days meals ahead of time it makes it pretty easy. Make sure to give yourself variety or you'll get sick. Some of the the ones I've liked are:
Replacing pasta sauce with salsa. Pasta sauce is pretty horrid for you where as salsa is extremely low cal but very flavorful. I also put salsa on better than eggs because the egg whites are pretty tasteless.
Also, I put hot sauce on almost all my meals because it raises body temperature (have seen it estimated that it burns as much as 10% more calories than not using it) I like hot sauce so it's not an issue.
Choose the meals you replace wisely. I find that using it in the morning works for me because I can't stand eating in the morning. If I tried to do that at lunch I'd get too hungry.
Also with the PB there is a HUGE differences in brands. Try to stick to the organic with very little processing.
I like eating pickles with the tuna it fills me up more or a tomato.
Keep us posted Tom, sounds like you got yourself a good solid plan.

Some of the peeps that play tennis and hit the fitness center regularly have gone to a cup of chocolate milk. One woman said she lost weight and felt better going back to work after noon classes.
I use Almond Breeze or soy milk to mix my protein powder in and I add either chocolate syrup or carmel syrup if I have not bought chocolate. The AB has just 60 calories a cup and no fat. The biggie is it's shelf stable until opened so I can snag it out of the closeout baskets at half price. I also use this in replace of milk in a lot of recipes.
I get my whey protein powder at Sam's Club. DH did the Zone Diet for a while and perused all the brands before selecting one.

I didn't tell him to cut out any particular food I was just telling him to buy a protein poweder that is low in fat, carbs and cals. Reason being it won't cost any more or less so why spend it on one that's high in fat and calories.

doing very well so far, had one fat day on 4th of july..mmmmmmmmmmgooood. The great thing I have noticed is that I do not have the 2:00 crash anymore, very cool! I just keep on trucking all day. I have a shaker cup, so I will start experimenting with different powders for my lunch shakes.
