I hate sit ups and crunches. I do outstretched arm planks[1.5 minutes x 3] and overhead leg raises [ I do mine with 5 lbs ankle weights 15 x 3 sets] with very good results.

Great article! Years ago, I was doing crunches and getting MORE GUT although it was harder and firmer. Then I learned exercises that eliminated all my achy back issues while improving my posture. I pulled my stomach in by strengthening my back. When I had to relocate my store to a second floor, lugging hundreds of bins up stairs, I used those same exercises to prevent my back from straining.

And I thought I must be the only person in the world who hated crunches... Cool!

Deb, I do the same thing as you. I haven't actually done crunches in years. The Plank not only works the abs it also works the arms...win win for me.
