...what is your favorite "bad" food that you allow yourself to have no matter what? Mine is french fries, especially the home made ones. I don't care how bad they are for me, I could never give them up. Yum!

There is pretty much nothing that I like that I've given up -- I just limit how often I have something that is bad for me.

Yum, cheesecake. I believe in moderation especially when it comes to treats. I also don't think it's a good idea to label foods "off limits" because it only makes you want them more.

I have severely limited fast food - really only when we do road trips, and we are trying to keep that in check by seeing if there are local places in the same area - but we aren't always so lucky.
I also try and severely limit things like Dairy Queen Blizzards and such. But, when it comes to what I cook at home - I just try and keep it reasonable. Maybe 1 piece of bacon instead of 5, or a small dish of ice cream covered in berries, instead of a half gallon and a spoon.

Fried Clams. I rarely eat them, and generally only in the summer, but man are they GOOD! Of course they're only worth eating at a place that really does them right. Oh YUM fried clams, and fried shrimp! There is a great place for fried clams/shrimp in Camp Ellis, Dem, altho I don't know where you are in ME. Soo good! I still allow myself peppermint patties (my fav!) and pizza, I just limit myself... Some "junk" is just so good

Hi cael, Wormwood's? Yup they're good. So is Cape Pier Chowder House in Cape Porpoise, Clam Shack in K'port.... actually there are quite a few good places around, it's just so disappointing when you eat somewhere that they don't do it right. And yeah, fried shrimp too. The healthy alternative- lol Actually, I was thinking Huot's, but Wormwood's is great too! I love Camp Ellis I grew up going to Ferry Beach and we still go up there. Now I want fried clams.... lol

Sorry about that Dem! If it makes you feel any better, I was really craving fries yesterday and now I'm craving fried shrimp, bacon, pizza, wine and cheesecake!

In addition to fried clams, I'm also craving Mexican, but luckily that's what I'm having for dinner tonight

I'm hoping they have chimichangas, but I dunno. Had some great ones in AZ last spring & want them again! The Mexican around here just isn't the same as when you're an hour from the border, lol.

Dontcha hate that??!! I went on a vacation one time. I lived in Tucson and went to Chicago. When I got there, I wanted Deep Dish pizza - right? They took me out for Mexican food. Now, I know there is a pretty decent sized population of mexicans in Chicago - but, really?
I also had people offer me Mexican food in Philadelphia and Atlanta. Ummmm - no.

LOL yeah! Tucson is where I was last spring, my aunt lives there. We went to one of the El Charro cafes, it was so good! DF got a taste of what *good* Mexican is like. The place here up the street from me is pretty good though, even though it doesn't compare to AZ.

You should have gone to Mi Niditos. When that family ran across the border 40 years ago, they brought all the best recipes and all the best cooks. Whoop-Whoop!

The only food that I think is really "bad" is highly processed junk or fast food. I crave Wendy's chicken nuggets a few times a year, and meximelts from Taco Bell, too. I used to eat those as a kid.
Then there's what I like to think of as the grey area - restaurants where the quality is high. Like my neighborhood pizza place that we order from probably twice a month.
And I probably eat a lot of food on a regular basis that other people might think is "bad" for you at home - bacon, butter, whole milk, heavy beer, non-lean meat, high quality ice cream. It's all about real food in appropriate portions.

Chocolate! Sometimes a girl just needs her fix... but I do limit it to a few small pieces or a handful of chocolate chips (I have tiny hands = tiny handfuls) and that usually does the trick.

I'm a fan of good chocolate, 72% cacao or higher. The dark stuff isn't the worst thing you can eat, unless you eat several bars of it every day.
Frugal...I admit I am totally hooked on the Ghiradelli 72% chocolate chips. The best chips!
