I am looking for more organic/less chemical personal care products without paying an arm and a leg for it.
I just switched to Burts Bees shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I otherwise use Ivory soap for washing up, but it is just drying my skin out too much. I have been using their lotion for a few months now and I am very happy with it.
I also am using Farmaesthetics line of facial skin care, although I really do like Clinique's skin care.
Does anyone use other more organic/less chemical products that they are very happy with?

I use Ivory body wash and then put on shea butter when I get out of the shower.
For skincare I use Lush. It is a bit expensive (not anymore than Clinque though). I can't use things like Clinque, Anew, or most things with the harsh chemicals. Lush works really well for my skin.

I love Burt's Bees bar soap (peppermint and rosemary, I believe?) and their body wash. I use Burt's lip balm, too. Lush is wonderful and I have some soaps from there, it doesn't hurt that there is a Lush store near me (doesn't help, either!). I moisturize with coco butter. Facewash I rotate between Cetaphil and a glycolic acid wash.

One thing I have to watch out for in a lot of organic/natural soaps and lotions is hemp. I can't use anything with hemp in it. I break out in horrible hives from it.

I don't seek out organic products, but through my couponing/drug store deals, I can usually find Renpure Organic and another brand... I think it is called Organix, for free after coupons/rebates. I like the Renpure conditioner, but the shampoo leaves a little residue, so every few days you have to rinse with vinegar or a clarifying shampoo, or your hair will look greasy.

Lush!! love their stuff! I switched a lot of my personal care items to Burt's Bees recently - body wash, lotion, face scrub. Right now, I'm also using an Aubrey Organics facial cleansing lotion, and Earth Science almond-aloe face moisturizer, and I love both so far. Shampoo is one thing I haven't found a more natural substitute for yet. I've tried some BBs shampoo & absolutely hated it, so I'm still working on that. A few websites if you want to check out info or reviews of products: www.makeupalley.com, www.goodguide.com, and www.cosmeticsdatabase.com - BUT take all info with a grain of salt on the last 2 sites - the EWG is pretty alarmist, they run the last site. Makeupalley has good product reviews.

I use Pure & Natural body wash and hand soap. They are paraben free and mostly organic (can't remember, but maybe like 95% organic?). I have really sensitive skin and these are great for me, no drying and super-yummy smells. I usually go for the almond oil & cherry blossom or rosemary & mint flavors. I can find them at my grocery store or Target no problem running about $5-7 a bottle.

I've wanted to try a site called terressentials for a while now, I just have to get my lazy butt into gear and order some. www.terressentials.com/They use all organic stuff, I think that you could literally eat their products because it's all USDA certified organic. They also have loads of products.

You can also make your own products - there are plenty of sites with recipes for soaps, etc.

I have fair skin and it is very sensitive to cold. In the winter, my hand will become so dry the skin cracks and bleeds. I tried everything, including Burt's Bees products. What works best, for me, is A&D ointment. One can purchase generic versions of the product for little money.

Etsy also has a lot of sellers who have home-made, natural and/or organic cosmetics & personal care items!

I've tried a lot of soaps and lotions, but my preferences are Aveeno scentless body wash and Cetaphil cream. Probably not organic or chemical-less, but work to keep most of the moisture in.

I have tried the Burt Bee's line and I only like their lip stuff. IMHO the shampoos were just horrible. Maybe it is my hair type, but it really dried my hair out. I do like the Aveeno that Mich mentioned above.
