I have a work Blackberry, but I decided to download a free calorie-tracking app. I couldn't do one that costs money, because the bill would go to work - and that's not cool.
Anyway, I downloaded one, and I entered in some foods, etc. And it had a thing that would calculate the recommended daily intake. So, I put in my stats - height, weight, age, activity level, etc.
Granted, I'm at the top of the "healthy" range for my height. I think if I gain 1 more pound I slip out of it - but no one ever thinks I need to lose weight. I'm 5'8" and 149 pounds. Not anorexic by any means - but certainly not obese.
The blackberry app came back and said "Your weight is too high to give a safe recommended daily intake." ROFL. Who is this app written for that 149 pounds is so heavy that they can't be responsible for suggesting a caloric intake?
So, happy Thursday - my blackberry called me fat.

At least if your husband called you fat you could yell at him and make him sleep on the couch. how do you exact revenge on a balckberry?

I wouldn't yell at my husband, I would just lift up his beer belly and let the pistachio shells fall out.

The blackberry app came back and said "Your weight is too high to give a safe recommended daily intake." Go ahead-have some fun with it. Change your weight to 300#'s and see what is says. Or make it really low like 98#'s.

Definitely see what it does with a few other numbers. Maybe it was written by an anorexic model?

If I put my weight in at 49 lbs it says I can have 600 calories per day. Anything more than that, I appear to be too fat.
Clearly it is a programming problem, and I will fess up that it calculated once, but when I pushed "recalc" it pooped out. The first calculation gave me 2000 calories per day. That seems high. I suspect I'd plump up if I did 2k per day, every day. I don't think I eat that much now.

I find it very funny. I figured if it was telling you that you're too fat at 148, if you put in 300 it might blow up. Or at least start smoking.

I put in 300 lbs and it said I could eat 2800 per day. But I get 2000 for 150 - could that be right?
If so, I'm gonna get me a candy bar!

"Clearly it is a programming problem"
Pretty well sums up the entire under-45 crowd, doesn't it? YES, that Crackberry device makes you look FAT. Send it packing and go look in the mirror. Happy? No, not just with that little part of your cheek you're focusing on to avoid seeing the rest of you... (a common concession). If you don't like "The Real You" shun electronic tethers, programming, applications and routines and GO GET SOME EXERCISE. Your calorie intake has less to do with your weight as it does with how much activity you do to burn off excesses and bad content. Think-- FUEL, not food. Stop pressing buttons for answers you already know instinctively.

Stop pressing buttons for answers you already know instinctively. Your calorie intake is pretty much the ONLY thing that matters. Exercise can increase the number of calories you burn, meaning that you can eat more, but in the end weight loss can be achieved solely by watching caloric intake. It cannot be achieved solely by exercising.

Again, veteran - I disagree. Weight has much to do with the proportion of calories in vs. calories burned. I've decided to track both to see if I have a problem with one or the other - or just need to do a little fine tuning of both.
My methods are encouraged by the weight loss and medical communities.

Don't blame the trailer because it makes you look like trash. Do something about yourself and quit lying about wanting to lose weight.
Kitchen scales Blackberries 15 pounds in 15 years... Bacon FAT ONE THOUSAND POSTS sitting on your calorie collector... and a Facebook problem too!
GO GET A LIFE!!!!

Ah - here is veteran.
Oddly, I look back and I have lost 10 pounds. I guess I didn't reach the whole 15 goal I had originally set - but I'm good.
