I'm not a runner and have no idea... but man life sure feels complicated after reading your questions!

I don't think you should have to say hello to everyone when you are running. I would smile and that's it.

I do a slight head nod to walkers I pass. I do a biker-like hand wave when passing other runners.
For the bike question. I as the runner would go onto the curb and let the bike use the bike lane.

I usually end up talking to quite a few people when I run. The conversation usually goes something like this: Them: "Are you OK?" Me: "I think I'll be fine" Them: "Do you want me to call an ambulance or something?" Me: "No, once my heart stops beating, I'm sure the heavy breathing and chest pains will go away" Them: "All right then, good luck with the next 100 feet" Me: "Thanks, hey, do you think I could get a ride?"

Stand back. I have a budget, and I know how to use it.

OMG tractor- That sounds like me when I do 5Ks- actually that sounded like me running high school track and cross country LOL
They way the law here works, technically, bicyclists should be riding with traffic and runners and walkers should be moving facing traffic when there are not sidewalks available- however- I refuse to run/walk on concrete/brick and very few actually could tell you what the law is. Unless you are on certain highways- and then you face traffic. I live in a small town, but rarely speak to anyone I don't know, maybe a nod of acknowledgement. I have gotten to the point that I use walk in the house DVDs or run on the local park track anymore. Traffic does not pay attention to cyclists, runners or walkers- heck- they haven't figured out what the flashing red lights on those big yellow buses are for yet.
