Things are starting to get a little stale on this board. Is anyone still working out? Are you reaching any of your goals? Lost/gained weight?
I had to take a week and a half off due to some work related travel. The only gym in the area closed before we were done for the day. I ate out everyday, and ended up loosing five pounds. I don't know how, but I'll try to gain in back in the next week or so. Hit the gym hard on Saturday, and will be at it again tonight.
I also won a free two year membership at the new gym in town. It may be a scam, but I'm going to check it out anyway.

*raises hand* I'm still working out 4-5 days a week with various things. I've been very consistent for a few years now so not many body changes. I loose muscle mass if I blink so I have to keep it up. I recently lost weight without meaning to by being on an anti-inflammation diet trying to correct long term shoulder/neck/back inflammation issues that I have. If you want to lose weight, cut the gluten and sugar. I didn't really have much to lose but I'm back to a size 2 after going to a 4 the past couple of years which is nice.
I do wish this board would pick up - I like talking fitness or more lurking at dr. pigs funny posts.
I walked 2.5 miles with my mom and dogs this am and will be doing an hour of zumba class tonight

I am still a fat ass with cellulite. I seriously hate working out. I can't seem to find anything other than Yoga that I like to do. I do walk my dog every day, but it isn't enough. My body fat is too high and I am about 17lbs overweight. Sigh....why can't exercise be like sex?

Ima, yoga can be a good workout. If that is what you like to do then continue it. Most of the yoga women I see are stick figures. They also follow the diet suggestions.
A lot can be done with dietary changes. I am down a few pounds by changing my breakfast to ff yogurt with either 1/4 c to 1/2 c grapenuts or granola. On light exercise days, breakfast is ff cottage cheese. I am also reducing my bread intake by eating the inside of the sandwich and skipping the bread.
I reduced my chips intake by purchasing at Sam's Club a box of 1 ounce variety packs. Even if I eat 2 packs, I am still less volume than 1/2 of an 11 ounce bag.
My after exercise treat is a homemade ice cream shake. I can limit the size. 1 banana, about the same amount of light ice cream and a little soy milk to thin it. If I'm super tired, I add protein powder. I skipped this shake a couple of days and ended up not feeling too good.
Try visualizing your sweetie sculpting your body during your intimate moments. Smoothing, soothing the skin. Your body follows where your mind goes. A great mind's eye picture is slender, toned and healthy you. That is the go to picture when a negative body thought enters your mind.
Golf 3 days a week, tennis 1 day, 1 kettlebell, 1 weight machines and 1 to 2 days rest. The golf course has hills. The winter transition starts in 2 months. Phooey.

Yeah Yoga works if you follow the diet suggestions. It doesn't work if you eat a loaf of french bread, a lb of cheese, a bottle of wine, and a pan of brownies. My problem is I love food and I am lazy. I work all day and when I get home I don't feel like working out. I know I have to force myself, but I just can't seem to do it. My other problem is that I get bored making the same healthy meals. I will have to figure it out before I start looking like my mother.

My body has turned to mush. I was crazy busy prepping for a vacation, was gone for two weeks on said vacation, and I've been back now for a week but have been crazy busy catching up from said vacation. So that's a month without any exercise (unless you count the miles I walked at Disneyland ). I haven't gained any weight, but ALL of my clothes are tight....the telltale sign that my muscles have converted to fat. I'm sportin' a serious muffin top. The good news is the kids start school this week so I'll finally have some time to work out again. Then maybe I'll be able to show my head on this board.

I'm glad to hear so many of you are sticking with it. As it gets cooler in the fall, it's much easier to settle on the couch with a pint on Ben and Jerry's watching HGTV, but it's also the perfect time to really devote yourself to a good workout plan to help fend off the winter blues. My wife is starting to due some of the Zumba dace crap. I'm just glad shes trying to get moving, it should help to relieve some of her work related stress. She's still talking about going to the gym with me, maybe I can get her started this winter.
I hear yoga can be good, although I have never tried it. My BIL lost over 100 lbs in a year doing yoga and watching his diet, so I know it will work. Whatever you do, keep active and you won't end up like the other 95% of Americans. I find it amazing that it seems to be acceptable to be a male over 40 in the US and have a huge beer gut. My 25 high school reunion is coming up soon and it's funny to see how many of my classmates have ballooned up. I'm like that cheesy bow flex commercial "I'm 42 years old and in the best shape of my life"

There really isn't anything to update for me. I took a month off to heal up some injuries but I'm right back to working out as always. I'm looking at next spring for some powerlifting meets. Now I have a stress fracture in my foot. I've been talked into wearing a boot but I plan on removing it to work out.

I'm somewhat jealous of all you running types. I have tried before and failed, but some day I will get into it. Right now I'm more focused on building muscle, and don't want to have one of those lean runner bodies.

But when I run, my pecs bounce up and down and it makes my chest hurt. Maybe I need a sport bra?

I have been trying to keep up my running training, but I have not been doing all that well. I am still planning on running a 1/2 this fall, but time is getting short.

How far are you currently running on your workouts, Archie? The max my husband ran before his half was just about 8 miles... he mostly trained at 6-7 miles. He finished the half in 1:45 and felt pretty good afterwards. He is doing another in October and does want to improve his time, so he is really going to start hitting the training hard over the next few weeks. I am trying to do one longish run a week that is 7-8 miles. Hopefully I will stretch those to 10 or so in the next few weeks. Then I try to do 4 more runs during the week anywhere from 3 to 5 miles. But trying to do them is not doing them. My goal was to run a 1:40, but I am not sure I am on track for that.

I been busy with work and wife's return from vacation, but I have been doing well at the gym, still going same ampunt per week, etc.
With winter coming, slowly shifting focus from maintaining good looking abs/ cut form to putting on some size---reducing the cardio, increasing the calories (mostly good calories (one extra cheat day a week though)), and plan to increase rest time (go from 5 days per week in the gym to 3 or 4).....hopefully I get the results I want and can maintain the results when I "cut" and re-concentrate on abs again when it gets closer to summer

Good job everyone, especially you MM for running! I'm still working out and rowing. Every time I row I desperately want to slow down on the last 500 meters, but the darn machine keeps track of everything and my husband is checking my progress.

Great job MM! LOL on your husband checking your progress... that'll keep you honest! The first time he wasn't there I slowed down. I really wanted to quit, but I kept going at a slower pace. The next day he says that he saw that I slowed down at the end and that's when I need to "really push myself". I know he was right, but I told him that he wasn't my personal trainer. Anyway, I go as fast as I can during the last 500 meters now, even if I feel like it's going to kill me.

Thank you rob. I'm not sure about that MM. If you see a headline that reads "Woman Dies on Rowing Machine", you'll know it was me.

I did 9 miles this morning with a friend. It felt pretty good, but dang, my inner thighs got all torn up. I was running bowlegged by the end.

I've been continuing with my usual workouts. I've had to change things slightly due to a new timetable at work which means I can no longer make a couple of classes.
I also hurt my lower back a few weeks ago, so have had to limit weight training that puts any strain on it. I'm on a 12 week waiting list to see a physiotherapist.

I kicked butt at rowing by shaving 20 seconds off my time. I also finally played racquetball again this weekend. I improved from last time too. ;D

One day a week on the weight machines, 3 days of golf on a hilly course, 1 day of tennis. Maybe one kettlebell day.
Yesterday we moved sandbags to the street for pick up for about 3 hours. That replaces kettlebells this week. The people doing yard cleanups after the flood are getting some k/a bodies going.
BP 103/68 and HR 68.

See the appeal of running? You've been brainwashed! I know all about talking myself into finishing. I'm an expert now. ;D I'm motivated by trying to be as good as my husband. I'm not sure I'll ever get there, but I am trying. So when I row, I often go "Oh why am I so slow"? I don't know. ;D

I'll chime in. Did my first workout yesterday in a looooooooooooooong time. I previously could do 3.5 miles at 10mins/mile. Yesterday I could only do two. I dropped my weight on every body part and I still could barely get 3 sets of 10 done. Good news is I worked hard for almost two hours and only felt like vomiting twice. ;D Even better news is I'm strangely not sore today. We'll see how tomorrow's session goes. Great job ladies on sticking with it!

Yeah...I'm not an easy vomiter but NOTHING scares me more than the idea of suddenly spewing my stomach as I'm doing squats. I'd have to leave my gym and never return I'd be so embarrassed. So, that keeps me from pushing too far. ;D

I ran 11.5 yesterday morning. We were supposed to be doing 10 miles but I mapped the route a got us lost so we ended up running extra. It felt pretty good and it gave me confidence that I could run a 1/2 marathon, but I have not been keeping up with my weekday running, so I don't know if I am going to be able to hit my goal of 1:40

My current job is my workout and I've lost 12 lbs. since I started there the end of June. I think I need to keep up with some overtime as it involves shelving books and pushing carts that weigh as much as 500lbs. and sometimes shifting hundreds of books on the shelves to shelf just one or two books.
