So how bad is diet soda? I am trying to go diet soda free today. I used to drink a lot, but been donw to 1 or 2 a day for a while, so now I am trying to go cold turkey for today (will probably have one tomorrow) but would eventually like to ween myself off of them
But is it really that bad to drink 1 or 2 a day?

I think you are better off without it. Can you try substituting water? I don't drink soda. Okay, I lied, I will indulge in a Mountain Dew when I'm on vacation (do I know how to live or what?  ). |

I mostly drink water too, well, really only when I work out. I drink iced tea the rest of the day.  |

I have been slowly reducing the amount of diet soda I drink (only had one yesterday  , so I hope not to have a headache today (also I hope not to give in and have one today  ) I drink a lot of water too, but I don't think I can by on just water alone for long. Are there any other low calorie alternatives that are decent for me? I have seen Liptons Diet Green Tea in the store, I heard green tea is good for you, but does the stuff they put in to make it "diet" make it "bad"? as for the ice tea, can you get it without sugar? other healthier drinking ideas? thanks |

Tea does have caffeine in it. You can make your own tea and add as much or little sugar as you want. They even have cold brew tea bags where you fill up your pitcher with water and throw some tea bags in it and in a couple of minutes you have tea! Even a caveman can make it. If you prefer green tea, just buy the green tea bags and make it the same way. I just let the bags steep overnight in the fridge. If you buy the iced tea in bottles, most of that has a ton of sugar in it and comes close to being as bad as drinking a soda. You need to read the labels. I like flavored seltzer.That is because you are Mr.Fancy Pants. |

is it bad for you? i'm no doctor. but it is another source of calories which you (or anyone) probably don't need. i enjoy tall glasses of ice cold water after my morning coffee. mm mm water.

but it apparently has other junk in it, and even though it has zero calories it can somehow effect your waistline somewhat (I readit a couple of places)--- not as bad as regular soda--but right now my abs are my goal
so far I have substituted unslated nuts and raw baby carrots for junk food, Hopefully I can find a diet soda substitute too, I will try some of what you all said, thanks. Any more recommendations have at it
now if only there was a good substitute for beer ;D (so far been 1 week off of beer....we'll see how long that lasts)

I used to be a 3-4/day diet soda gal. I deliberately cut it to one/day when I was losing my weight but refused to give it up completely. As I got healthier, though, my body got more sensitive to the crap (not just diet soda...most all crap) and it got to the point that I couldn't drink more than 1/3 can without feeling sick. I now drink about one a month....believe me when I say that I *never* thought that would happen.
