Everything I have read says you shouldn't exercise right before bed as it revs you up and can make it hard to sleep. You might want to consider a single-room AC unit. I have used with varied success two types, both portable on wheels. One was a swamp cooler, which work well here but won't work in areas of high humidity (I don't know where you live). The other was a small freon type cooler. It produced colder air but had the disadvantage of having an exhaust pipe that needed to be vented to the outside of the house. Then again, maybe just some high volume fans will be enough for you. The Patton brand is rather expensive, but they do move a lot of air.

Working out before bed? My thoughts: It will increase your metabolism when you sleep but the bigger question is can you sleep after working out? Most people are too "wired" to sleep after working out. The only way you'll know how you react is to try it and see. How's your program going?

I often run around 9:00PM or so. I am usually able to fall asleep easily by 11:00, but sometimes I am too wired to fall asleep easily

If you are someone who can't exercise at night, can you run early in the morning instead before it gets hot? I know you get up early, but if you could do it then you would have it out of the way. If that is not possible then I second the idea of getting a video that you like and turning down the air conditioner.

how long do you run (do you run for time or distance or other)?
if it is not that much more than 30 minutes I would just get up 30 minutes earlier....I know you get up early already, but another 30 minutes or so will be worth it to obtain your goals (and it is out of the way first thing so you won't find excuses later to avoid it), and than you can go to bed 30 minutes earlier or whatever.
It can be done, I did it once upon a time and I am NOT a morning person

I've been bicycling- is that an option for you? Sometimes it's over 100 degrees, and I have to remember to bring a sweatband or the sweat stings my eyes, but I've been doing 15-18 miles a day in the afternoons on the weekends and I'm 58. I also bring watre with me, make a stop at a store on my way and buy a cool bottle of some sort of soda (bad for you, I know) and drink more when I get home. I just fine it much easier to motivate myself to bike than to run.

Ihave to leave for work at five am so can't run before and it doesn't start to cool off till late. Should I run right before going to bed? How does that affect metabolism and is it an okay idea? Bad idea? I should get a good arobic video maybe. My main problem is that it is so hard to be motivated when it is so hot. I don't have ac. Well I do, but have such a big house. I hate to use it. I have less then three weeks to go on my five weeks to good abs. There was really no point to this post, sorry about that. Are you able to get a piece of equipment for inside your home? I did this and working out in the early AM or whenever was a choice not a hindrance.
