heart2, thank you! The road to freedom (like many here from what I read) is not an easy one. We do the best we can. We try. As I said, sometimes the act of putting one foot in front of the other is enough motivation to get the mechamism (our mind) rolling. Best wishes for all. I know in my wifes case being a dual diagnosis of both manic deppressive and the addictions was tough at first. None of this is easy to walk thru, but the benefits are tremendous! Still the wonderfully positive roy, which is a struggle for all of us and a karma to you for your reassuring words...

I set foot outside my apartment today for the first time in six days. It actually felt good, maybe the Prozac is kicking in. There have been times in my life, and probably will be again, when stepping outside my home was a MAJOR accomplishment. Good on you.

What great support here for everyone. It's always good and right not to feel alone. I relate with my wifes and my struggles. Sometimes just the act of getting up, and putting one foot in front of the other was hard.Together makes it so much easier. Peace. Great post. I still have those days and figure I will for the rest of my life.

Blessings and hope that everyone has a "positive" day. Me I'm gonna set the course on auto pilot, smile and step off thru the door. Blessings to all. Prayer to The Great Spirit O' Great Spirit, Whose voice we hear in the winds, and whose breath gives life to all the world, hear us! We are small and weak. We need your strength and wisdom. Let us walk in beauty, and make our eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset. Make our hands respect the things you have made and our ears sharp to hear your voice. Make us wise so that we may understand the things you have taught our people. Let us learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock. We seek strength, not to be greater than our brother, but to fight our greatest enemy— ourselves. Make us always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes, so when life fades as the fading sunset, our spirits may come to you without shame.

Fall is in the air. School starting, autumn leaves, football, Halloween, cider. Looking foward to "trick or treating" with my daughter. And, I love the "Pumpkin Roll". The day after Halloween, we all line up at the top of our street which is an old brick road down a hill. And, they clear the street. Then everyone gets to roll their Halloween pumpkins down this hill. Too funny. I also like that they let the kids paint the windows downtown. I remember doing that in HS and that was great fun. I miss "stuff" like that..... California people are to compartmentalized to do that. To independent. Even growing up in the '60's/'70's we only had little gatherings. Sounds like a whole lotta fun to me.

I think that's awesome! Don't get me wrong, I loved my childhood to, I grew up (and live and work) in Hollywood. I grew up under the Hollywood sign (a huge park, called griffith park) as our backyard. But still not the same as small town life. We had fun, we had adventures, but it's the independence of big city life. Have fun

I finally got to dead head all my flowers in my flower beds yesterday thanks to the mania. It should have been done a month or so go, but I just couldn't go out there to do it. I spent the summer in my house not going outside except going to town and back or to my mom's place. I guess I ive like a hermit never going out because of the depression it hhas caused me to be house bound.

Hello I've been all over the world and back, so it seemed. Hey there, Weezy.. I don't know whether I had mania or not, but I sure had a lot of pep in my step today.. The dust from the renovation was driving me nuts in the room I used as storage.. I managed to take everything out and put in its place.. I thought I'd never stop sneezing.. Aaah chooooin' all morning.. Hope you try to get out during the autumn season, Weez.. Its such a beautiful time of the year.. The trees in my area leaves are just beginning to color my world.. I'll have pictures to share soon.. Hi Roy, Snerd, Diamond, Theother.. Hope your day has been a good one.. My world is quite chilly.. It was 53 degrees at 10am this morning, and was just 93 on Monday..

Hello there Sister I hope you come back to visit.. I think things will steadily pick up here, Sister. Change is a big adjustment, but once adjusted it will feel like home again.. Hope to see you soon. I haven't been on that much today.. Something kept coming up every time I thought I had a lull.. Hopefully I can sit still for a few minutes now.. Hope you're able to get some sleep.

Hi Heart, Weezy, Darla, Metwo, Moon, and everyone else! ->I'll get used to the names sooner or later. I don't know if I'll remember them, but I'll get used to them! Snerd- I'm jealous of your pumpkin rolling! There's a little town about 3-4 hrs away from where I live, and every year they have a witches parade sown Main Street. It's fabulous! Worth the drive, depending on who you go with. I wish they did some of those things closer to home. When I went to the state fair the other day, I got a wonderful witches hat. It's quite big, and made out of a neoprene type fabric. All the way around the brim are these big fluffy black and white feathers. Rather chic for a witch, I must say! Wishing you all a Fantastic Friday/weekend!

I rolled around, sorta, while pulling 32 pumpkins in my backyard a couple days ago.. Does that count as having a roll in the patch? ;D By fluke, pumpkins seeds got mingled in my compost for my small garden.. I thought squash plants were coming up, and wondered how in the world they got in my garden. The pumpkin leaf is the same as squash (same family) so I assumed they were squash, but how quickly I found out I had a pumpkin patch.. The vine went everywhere and sucked the life out of everything else I'd planted.. Now that I pulled the pumpkins and the vine.. Walla! My cold weather vegetable jumped straight up on onward.. Just thought I share my pumpkin rolled story. How is everyone doing? If your'e doing ok, great. Listen up. everyone.. We must rally around our new friend Mad.. He's feeling depressed. Said so on the one word "feelings" thread.. Mad, if you want to share why you're depressed, we listen. If not, we're here. I hope your day ends with lessened depression.. Hey, Tmr.. Glad you enjoyed the fair. Mine ended about a week and a half ago. I heard the crowds were enormous.. Around here, the fair is like one of the last hoorahs before the cold weather sets in..

Had a panic attack this morning, I had gone over to my quotes thread and again HE shut it down saying it didn't belong in the Living Thread, We had such a good turn out the first tim around before he shut me down, now again he did the same thing. I was only trying to let people write out a healthy way in quotes, but no go. I just went overboard with my anger and had a panic attack not cool.

I'm sorry Weez.. Maybe you can approach the start-up thread from a different angle, maybe? Quotes dedicated to those suffering with any type mental challenges.. For example: Inspiring Quotes.. To Lift Your Hearts, Your Hope & Spirit.. Just a few thoughts..

The Quotes thread is still alive, it's just been moved to "Everything Else" now. And there's also a Jokes thread there. In "Good Morning" we talked of starting something similar.

Hello all,
Kind of in the dumps tonight. Maybe due in part to the cold, damp weather we have. Have things to do that I don't want to do.
Disappointed my favorite nephew by not going to his engagement party. Supposed to be going to an out of town wedding tomorrow and do not want to go.

Good morning everyone.. Guess I'll bring my two cents to the kitty.. I had a very interesting Friday.. Lot's of listening to a neighbor.. Enjoyed great food and a whole lot more.. My day was long, but pretty good for the most part and ended with a crash in bed. My mind could not absorb another thing, so sleep ruled.. One lesson I learned from my doctor while being counseled, is to know my mind's limitations and how to say and use the word no.. To myself, and to others also when my limitation has been met.. Daphnee.. It's tough when our babies are 18, and we are not, having been where they are, mentally.. Most 18 year olds' think they know what's best for their lives and have not even lived yet.. Go figure. It gets better though, so there's hope. Just wait until they're out on their own, and responsible for their financial being among other realities in life.. Oh, what a change of heart and mind they'll possess! Hope Saturday is a good one for all of us..

Guess I should throw my two-cents in here, as well, to let people know a little about who I am and why I'm here. My DD is bipolar. She's come a long way toward beating back the demons that nearly destroyed her, but it hasn't been an easy path. I'm bipolar, as well, but was always a very, very rapid cycler. With time and hard work, I no longer require medication and am able to function quite well most of the time. I have my down times, and I have times when I feel that manic pull but have learned, to a degree, to resist it or accomodate it in alternative ways that aren't destructive. Ours is not the simple path, but it gives us a gift, as well ... the gift of empathy. We know how it feels to feel out of control with the world spinning around us. We know hopelessness and helplessness and do not judge people negatively, for the most part. I guess, what I'm trying to say is: There is hope, and light, and joy waiting. At 70, I can see it. I certainly couldn't see it in my twenties and thirties when I was unable to draw on what I've learned, and been taught along the way. Keep on trucking, folks, and keep up with your meds and your therapy. You'll reap the value of all that and be thankful you had the opportunity to learn and grow in a way apart from the norm. While it's tough, in my field it's invaluable.
