Some might say that current market and euro zone indicators show that there is no hope for the future of civilized society. Some might believe that only a bunker full of supplies and armaments will see one through the next decade with body and soul together. Others are likely to believe in the resiliency of the world economy and the raw inertia of the massive resources and binding commitments of the US federal superduperstructure. Regardless of your point of view or your agenda (hidden or otherwise), this is your Break Room of DOOM. Welcome. Enjoy it if you can. Enjoy it while it lasts, for in the blink of an eye it could all be annihilated and only found in the memories of those who lingered while it be. offtopic-do-not-remove:iéû3oPëXdì9îfJèLuà3YvïOP

Sorry bumpybumpington -
I am not a certified Gloom and Doomer - (aside from what I post at times)
I am a "Bull in Waiting"
"Waiting" - for the markets to correct - like they should have been allowed to correct - without all those taxpayer funded programs like: TARP : Cash for Clunkers : Mortgage Modifications : 100 weeks of unemployment : Cash for Appliances : Bailouts for GM - Chrysler - AIG etc etc etc etc etc
Once all this - trying to keep the bubble inflated Greenspan/Geithner/Paulson/Bernanke smoke and mirrors disappear - and the markets fall to where they should have been in the 1st place -
I will be a Bullish again. (Or Cat like) - Fluffy is on it - with more short recommendations for now.

I have renamed the thread because bumpy is not around to do it himself.
bumpy, you may feel free to rename it again if you like but there will be no reference to the other thread permitted. ~moon mod.

Thanks In Houston and Fluffy. The voice of reason and predatory readiness. Purrrrfect.
Virgil you have mastered the haiku of DOOM.
"I" believe that September 2011 is the month that the tide will turn. Like Fluffy, I wait and watch and plan my moves.
We all choose which role to play in these equations.
You can choose to be the fearful mouse and run for cover to hide your stash waiting for the day that your number comes up, cursing the sky for smiting you with clever cats. OR Like the cat you can see your way to eat every doomygloomy mouse in site, greatful for the bounty of stupid mice.

There is only one FTI. Without him we are all DOOOOOOMED. Doomed I tells ya doomed. We are so doomed.
So...how about that Gold? It is good for many purposes, but the prices...could make you think twice about buying a set of 18K flatware or that half liter chalice that everyone should have at least one of.

Half litre chalice? Is that the chalice with the palace?

No. The vessel with the pestle next to the chalice from the palace. There are fewer impalers than there were this morning. Looks like a lock down.

gold = 1440 start, in 6 months it is at 1750/1800
dow = 12000 start, in 6 months it is at 11,400.
if the above means that the market is undervalued and is a buy? then i guess you should be 'shorting' gold, and buying the market with your gains
i wouldn't want that bet, but don't let that stop you from doing so.

From a movie entitled "the court jester" which starred Danny Kaye
Hawkins: I've got it! I've got it! The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle; the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true! Right?
Griselda: Right. But there's been a change: they broke the chalice from the palace!
Hawkins: They *broke* the chalice from the palace?
Griselda: And replaced it with a flagon.
Hawkins: A flagon...?
Griselda: With the figure of a dragon.
Hawkins: Flagon with a dragon.
Griselda: Right.
Hawkins: But did you put the pellet with the poison in the vessel with the pestle?
Griselda: No! The pellet with the poison's in the flagon with the dragon! The vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true!
Hawkins: The pellet with the poison's in the flagon with the dragon; the vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true.
Griselda: Just remember that.[4]

Lets go back a couple of years and make the same comparison. Better yet, lets go back to around 1980 and make that comparison. Gold has had a good recent run no doubt, but it's not a sprint, it's a marathon.

Hmmmmmm.......According to a couple of notable past and present posters, aren't we supposed to be glowing already? And aren't we also supposed to be starving right about now with all that drought and corn shortages and such?
