When he finally entered Tenochtitlan (Mexico City today) in 1520, the year after he first arrived in the New World, he found half of the inhabitants infected with smallpox. In just the first epidemic, nearly 50% had died. Eleven years later, a second epidemic devastated Mexico, and this too was introduced from Spanish ships. By 1595, over 18 million people had died of smallpox, mumps, measles and other European diseases.

I know about Conquistadors. The name is from a bit a comedian did on the Bob and Tom syndicated radio show. A guy calls a hotel to make a reservation insisting they call him El Conquistador. He actually gets them to do it.
Ooo maybe it would've been better if I had called myself Pilgrim! They were so much better than the Conquistadors.

Nice seeing you here HK. I wish I had time to be bored. I don't know how I ever got things done at home when I worked. I did take on a Directors position with a non-profit group though. It think I work harder for free than I did to get paid. That and we gutted two house and had one built over the past three years. Not mention pool and boat time I've got to get squeezed in.
