Anyone ever have any experience booking through beachdestinations.com?? Their deals are listed on TravelZoo and prices are lower than PleasantHolidays, but was wondering if they were reputable. For travel during Feb/March I have found costs to be around $2,000 ttl w tax, for 2 adults - Big Island 3 nt/ Oahu 3nt includes air (LAX+transfer)+3 star hotel+car I'd love to do it for less (don't we all ), anyone know if it's significantly cheaper if we wait for low season ($100 savings probably wouldn't wait, $500 savings - for sure wait)

Oh, Hawaii is da kine! Try go Big Island. Stay mo bettah. Stand next to the hot lava flowing out of Kilauea. Ski down Mauna Kea. Surf off of Pine Trees. Eat some ono grinds at Big Island Grill or Sansei. Golf on PGA Championship courses. And have one Mai Tai! Kaua'i no ka oi! I loved living there and miss it terribly. But.... Reasons to go to that beautiful state? Islands that are "one" but so different from one another. A volcano that spills into the ocean. Rain, sun, and rainbows (plus WARM rain). Beautiful water. Slower pace of life. Whales. Mai Tais. Flowers like you've never seen. Wonderful people if you are willing to learn from them (versus forcing your views on them). Hula. Kalua pig. Clean air. I could keep going on but I won't...its making me homesick.

Ok... so we booked our rooms. We are staying near Hana for 3 night and Lahina for 4 nights.

Way to go Arch! When you going? When you get to Lahaina. Try Kimo's on front street. Go to the bar just before sundown. Fantastic! ALOHA!

Charles Lindbergh is buried few miles past Hana, it's a nice place to visit while you are there.
I enjoy Maui because I like the beaches. I find Kauai too rocky, although very scenic!
It's a long long long windy drive to Hana if you've never been! Get the cd and play it on the way up, well worth the investment. Actually I think I have one laying around I can probably copy for you if you'd like. PM me.

dancing' I've done a cruise of Hawaii. We started in Honolulu. Overnight in Maui. I rode the bicycle down the mountain; that was fun. We went to Kauai; very scenic.
Archie enjoy the time with your wife.

Go! They have some pretty good deals out there, especailly on cruises, which I love because of the all inclusiveness. I'm going in 2 weeks and found some great deals. If you have miles or hotel points, you can widdle the cost down even more! Think of it as a 'once in a lifetime opportunity' I made it a personal goal to cross off visiting each state--I highly recommend creating a similar goal with your wife.

Is the road to Hana less treacherous than it was many years ago? I never went there. Would you drive it or go on a tour bus/van?

Anyone have any recommendations for Honolulu? Just found out DH has to go for work at the end of the month, so I'm going to tag along. We **might** also fly over to Kauai for a couple of days so I can see my college roommate, but not 100% certain on that one.

Going to Maui in a week. Staying in Lahaina. Kimo's at sundown, cd for trip to Hana. Any more ideas. Have reservations for Four Winds am boat trip. ? ? Is it worth dragging the wife out of bed for sunrise on top of Haleakala? Ideas for a quality "adventure"? Love to get my heart pumping (parachuting/bungee jumping) but only with a program professionally run. Love to hear from you anything to see or avoid.

There's a neat winery that's fun to visit. Tedeschi winery I believe is the name. Also, the Iao Valley state park is gorgeous. Heck, everywhere you look is gorgeous! Oh, and Yes! Haleakala sunrise or sunset is worth it. Breathtaking.

It was very cool. Definitely neat to be in Hawaii bundled up in coats and hats and gloves to watch the sun rise. We did a bike tour that takes you down the mountain after sunrise. That was also pretty awesome, touristy, but fun. But the van picked us up at 2:30 to get us to the top at sunrise. Snorkeling is good right of the beach near the Sheraton at black rock. We used the Maui revealed travel books to plan out our trip. we liked it a lot. Good recommendations. We also took a boat to snorkel a molikini. It is worth it if you like snorkeling. There is also good snorkeling you can drive to along the northern coast north of the resorts. The trip to Hana is a beautiful ride. Do you plan on staying out there? If not, it is a long day, but doable.
