I searched for some of the UK folks and found the following:

MSN UK can confirm it has closed all message boards on the site from 21 March 2011.

We would like to thank users who have actively taken part in healthy debate and apologise for any disappointment the closure may cause.

You can continue to enjoy and to contribute to an open and honest debate on a whole host of original news and features by using the inline comments available on most article pages on our site.

I just looked in on the Miss Manners community. I'm not sure if they would appreciate some of our wild children. But, an invite would be the polite thing to do.

sammy, i have posted links to this place on Miss Manners, decontructing women: for men (i know that group, and have already had some come here), and Marriage and Couplehood boards. Spydah posted on Dating - Heaven and Hell and Advice for the Broken Hearted. I left Friendship and Foibles alone because the main players there already know.

I know where a number of the brits are. but they have found other homes on 2 other proboards sites i know of already. I am hoping that i can get one particular one over here however.. his name is Bulldog Drummond and he's awesome..

saffy/satan told me the UK board was gone and some people went to a Canadian board. I mostly chat with her and Bulldog on fb or email.

yes ken. but I've heard the canadian boards are going (if not gone already) so a lot have gone to forever sunshine's place, or icelandicwoman's..some are on both.

yes. if you were to google msn canada message boards you might find them...or at least a message saying they were closing.

Another brilliant business move by msn. Nothing like driving away your users and degrading content on your site that might actually generate some eyeballs. That poor company is screwed. (said as an early msft investor and stock holder till about 2001)


That is classic Microsoft strategy. When they released SQL Server 2005 years ago, it would not install and run on their latest operating system at the time, Vista.
So Microsoft was pushing and prodding the IT community to move to Vista, while at the same time their enterprise database management system would not run on it.

There are Brits about on the various proboards....but quite where they will end up is anyone's guess.

my guess is that they will be various and/or multiple places.. A couple are here but i know there are some on icey and sunshine's board and cuttingedgeuk..

nope... not affiliated in any way whatsoever.

i used "msn money" in my url because at the time i created the board, i couldn't think of a good name. i honestly didn't think it'd ever be needed! but at the same time, i had to say it was NOT msn money so people wouldn't think it was legally connected..

it's just a site that i knew about from having been an assistant admin on another proboard forum. i knew the basic setup and functionality, and it's free, so it seemed logical to me.

there are other similar forum hosting sites out there, of course.

I think its quite interesting, each place has a different set of posters and different things to discuss.
We are certainly not spoiled for choice.

you know spell.... i feel really lucky to have talked to so many people from so many places. I have been on lots pf different msn boards.. and yes, to an extent i've run into many others that have wandered here and there like me.. but others i've "known" only from say, the UK boards.. or lifestyles. or the former money boards. wherever it may have been, msn doesn't realize the impact they had. it's a shame.

Its a great shame. Msnuk was a great little board easily used and with a variety of posters.
I used the GD and Politics boards daily....and had lots of interesting discussions which broadened my outlook and met some interesting people along the way.
It suffered when the mods went unfortunately

People posted for different reasons....some were bouncing out their political ideologies...some were from various organisations on a bit of a mission.... and others posted for company or interest.
It was a sad day when it closed for good.

Still we have the proboards thanks to you, Sun and a few others...so a bit of recreational discussion can still be had with people who have been around for years and others who have a particular take on life.... that is worthy of reading.

It will all be closed today...and most people have got themselves organised... and for old times sake I wish them the best.

Hi Moonbeam and Spell, no boards, i have found out were as good as the UK ones. The UK boards did have more than it's share of lunatics though, that spoiled things a bit, with the proboards there seems to be more on guard against troublesome posters. I am just dipping my toe in the water with this board, (there are more members here than boards i am use to) and some of the topics under discussion are a bit strange. A few more Brits might change things, but like me, a bit shy on posting.

don't be shy Jack.. we're a nice bunch for the most part.. i know we're a lot bigger than the cuttingedgeuk, icey and crap boards, but once you get the lay of the land it's all good!
