I'm with you, not just because your frog is telling me to obey either.. Since we have some very popular threads that get lots of posts, even by the people that say the threads are pumped; it should make it so that everyone is happy. That way everyone can feel like there are at the TOP.. Since it seems to be one of the most important things to some people around here.. Little karma for you Tesla!

I am not a fan of pinning threads. I think that if people want to see and read threads, they should be posting on them so they stay towards the first few pages of the board.

Pinning threads to make a few posters happy is ludicrous
This is about a few people not liking some posts.....sorry but if you dont want to read those threads....dont
Newest post responses on top...only pinned threads should be for the stock market game...if one comes and FAQ's for posting
NOTHING ELSE....people can freaking search for the posts that feel are relevant
If you make an exception for one thread suddenly everyone wants the same treatment....and the exception beomes the rule
NO GOOD

I know, and when I think about how far some people are under some people skin for having fun, while talking about making money, all i can do is...

I've pared it down to four. The Day Traders' thread and Tsunami thread, which are "attractions" to the board, and then a general bull discussion area (Frank's thread) and a general bear discussion area (Decoy's thread).
Let's give it a week and see how it goes.

So wrong. This is about FTI and his pals pumping posts to the top so newbies and would be reader only see the pumping posts, and not others well written but forgotten posts. He uses one liners with his pals to keep the pumping at the top and it's obvious. Nobody is stopping FTI and pals from pumping, they are just using this to their advantage to keep the message board with pro market information and excluding the other posts at the bottom.
It's deliberate, and it's unacceptable. He did this with free pass at MSN MT. Fairness and equal voice is what many want, not just pumping threads in view of front page.
You have to realize this site will grow, and more will visit, and all views should be expressed front page. I think Virgils attempt to keep it fair is good one. We can switch it up later on if need be, but gives all a voice on front page.
I really can't think of another compromise that would suit all better than this, can you?

As far as everyone "wanting the same treatment", that is absurd and untrue since I can assure you I will never want a thread I have initiated "pinned" ( the Tsunami thread was not started by me, I simply was the first to carry over the original authors thread so it would not be lost once the MSN board is down) and thus, since I will never ask for a thread I authored to be pinned, that disproves your claim. It's my opinion that pinning some of the more serious posts is a fabulous idea. I understand some people want to have "fun", but sometimes what some people view as "fun" or "entertaining" is viewed by others as adolescent and offensive ( "yoga toes", seriously guys ? In Market talk? ). You take offense at people wanting to pin posts. There are people here that take offense at locker room talk and photos. Guess we'll have to put up with each other. No one is forced to be here. Old and Gray has decades of personal wisdom that he was kind and generous enough to take the time and effort to post and share. He lived through the Great Depression, WW2 and several deep recessions since. I think his thread is worth pinning. It definitely ranks as a perennial favorite and one should not have to sort through pages and pages of, at times, nonsense (including "Yoga Toes"...) to get to it. I also believe worth two "pins" are threads for Decoy and Frank I, since both post frequently, have their share of "fans", and it helps to contain their postings to be easier to find... ;D...and since they are so diametrically opposed in their viewpoints, it's nice to have them near each other. So, I vote yes for pinning a few posts and , again, I think it is "genius" idea.

Favoritism and discrimination are two items that a community board should NEVER allow
When you decide to pin any thread to the top.....even where the intentions are innocent, you open up a plethora on issues
You may want to see your favorite threads on top....others will not
Discrimination comes in many forms......and when mods decide that they will pin threads based on pressure from other posters....nothing good can come out of it
What next? And believe me, there will be a next item....

I do not agree with the pinning of threads. I agree with gdgyva. Who is going to decide when to pin and unpin. It will only cause hard feelings and strife in the future. Let the posters by their posting discussion decide what threads should be on top. In a perfect world, pinning 4 threads would not be required. Unfortunately this board, unlike the other refugee boards, had one poster that insisted on pinning his four threads constantly. He was unable to control himself so this is the consequence. He's lucky he got one of his pinned imo. This is what happens when an individual insists on being the community instead of being part of the community. Btw, he would have been permanently banned on other message boards.

No good will come from pinning threads.
It's like finding two people slapping each other and trying to pacify them by giving each one a baseball bat.

There was no bumping wars. Frank the Impaler (for Archies benefit) insisted on bumping his threads to the front several times per day. Posters are fed up with it. Doing what you suggested would not stop his rude behavior.

It doesnt matter all
You will be able to hear a pin drop in a month here.....
No one i know wants to read the world is ending day after day....which is ALL you get from Decoy & Mid
You may not like FTI or his threads...god knows i dont agree with it all.....but it does break up the same dribble every day posted by others
And i am not saying they are wrong...what they see MAY come to fruition....but i dont need it pounded into my skull every day
It was fun for a little while

IMO the wrong question is being asked. Look at how the Tsunami thread got pinned on the old MT. A member asked Archie to pin it and several other members agreed that it should be pinned as well. The community chose that thread as important enough to be pinned. What happened here is different. One person, Virgil, arbitrarily chose a bull thread and a bear thread and pinned them. Choosing from his perspective to represent what the community thinks, or should think, is important enough to pin.
This only happened because comokate, myself, FTI and a few others engaged in some silliness Saturday night and no one was trying to harm anyone. Decoy apparently complained because a couple of posts landed on his thread. Even though Decoy routinely goes on FTI's threads and talks trash.

Respectfully Z, I've found serial bumping combined with what I consider adolescent boy humor to be annoying. The board is gonna be what the board's gonna be. I personally prefer a predominately serious board but maybe the community will prefer a silly board. If it becomes a predominately serious board then perhaps we will have less posters but I won't miss the silly posters. If the board prefers an FTI silly board then it will lose some serious posters. Not the end of the world either way when you think of it.

You many want to post there when looking for less chit chat and on MT when you are looking for more chit chat.

My choice was hardly arbitrary. They're the two most popular threads on the board, and especially so with their respective audiences.
To the pro-Frank crowd: I am seeking a compromise here. Is having the issue of "pumping" wholly put to rest not worth the minor inconvenience of four pinned threads?

you wouldnt have wanted me around....
you wouldnt have liked my comments at all....
but this will be the norm from now on.....a few comments here and there...none entertaining or thought provoking
this is what happens when mods take sides, and make very bad decisions based on the wants of the FEW

FTI is the one that made his "drama queen" exit. Drama queens tend to want to be front and center so his most recent "departure" behavior doesn't surprise me at all. Nobody banned him and nobody asked him to leave. I personally can care less if he never comes back or decides to return tonight.

HUH?? Where have you been? Few thought provoking comments or threads? This board has a lot of good comments, thinker, outside the boxers. I think there is a good mix of people here, opinions are strong, tis why so much back and forth here.
I think now that MSN is no longer in control of content, and let's others views be heard instead of tote the party line from the mainstream media, those that don't want to be exposed to what's really going on have a fit.
This board has become more non pumping not because people are negative, but because the facts line up to hard times ahead, and general mood of the board reflects that. Sorry MSN MT has given you a false view of reality with their mainstream news counterstrike team out to pump and boast the market.
I think the board having pinned at top threads that are deemed important and getting lots of traffic is fair.
Here's what many non pumpers believe like it or not, we see this stock market the same as those that spoke out before real estate bust. Many were ridiculed, and laughed at. Guess what, the ones that called that were right. I think this goes for most nonpumers right now in respects to the stock market.
My personal biggest complaint is that the nonpumpers present ideas, articles, charts, commentary, and discussion about why they take their position. The pumpers have little or nothing to say. If they did, and can show some real insightful examples and discussion, you might have a better case for listeners. Silly pictures, two liners, jokes, and insults to bump threads to the top doesn't cut it with many here. Go to EE and have idle chatter and random discussions, that's what it's there for.

gdgyva, what are you doing to contribute today besides complaining?
Mid, you conspiracy theory is old. How about moving on and contributing something that all of us want to read.
What turns me off is the 3-2-4 line long thread titles. It says, WARNING the content will be boring. Short, sweet and to the point titles and content within the thread peeks the interest of current members and lurkers.
My thoughts on the idea: Instead of linking the threads previously mentioned in this thread post a message with links to the threads and a short bio of what they contain then pin the thread to the top. Add interesting threads as they appear.

Really?? Conspiracy? Not here, I've posted mostly mainstream stuff and it's real news. Best go talk to the news agencys about the content they put out if you have such a problem with it. Fact is people are interested in the truth, best shut your yap or go back to EE where you can discuss simple thoughts. This stuff is way beyond your comprehension, and we careless what you think.

You are not reading my words, Mid. I do not have a problem with what news agencies put out since I know all I have to do is look elsewhere. See, I am not conspiracy ridden. As for the truth, it's how and where you seek it that makes the difference. Staying with one news source hamstrings the mind and turns the individual into a conspiracy ridden individual. You do not want to become one of them do you, Mid?? As for shutting my yap and going back to the EE board to discuss simple thoughts........ do you like to live dangerously? I'll have you know that there is a major amount of intelligence on the EE board. It's just that they choose to keep it under wraps for fear that they may overshadow the rest of the boards. So who are the WE in, "we could *careless* what I think??? I thought I was talking to you. Now behave yourself or I will get the ladies of the EE board to come over here and give you such a 'what-for' that your head will spin..... or, you may like it.

LOL, now this is funny. One news source, sorry baby cakes but that's not what I do. I show article from many sources and places. Sorry to burst you bubble, but you haven't a clue what your talking about. I find it funny that those that doubt the workings going on, time and time again don't even take any reasonable time to look into them. I seriously doubt you have. We called Gold correctly before anyone thought it was going to keep going up. Why, cause we investigated and figured it out, looking at that whole picture.
One of many examples. Just because you choose not to indulge in the conversation or explore outside the box of what you've been hand fed doesn't mean it's not true. You believe the magic bullet theory of JFK? Amazing how that could happen. Do you understand that the federal reserve is a private bank, with private shareholders unnamed to the masses? Do you understand the scam going on there, and how fractional reserve banking has taken away from your savings account and made goods and services cost more?
If you can't answer some basic questions like that, then you have no business in challenging me on these topics unless you have researched them for yourself.
As for EE having a serious conversation on current matters at hand, that's laughable. I've been there and it was a joke. Posters over there will never look outside the box for the most part, and the laughing and joking going on by the flat earthers is quite honestly not funny at all. HAAHAHA, you all laugh, isn't it funny how the banks have stolen trillions of dollars, and put us in so much debt that we cannot repay them unless we completely destroy the dollar. Yep real funny material to laugh about.
This is also funny seeing as you started in on me. Funny how you not threaten to come over to MT and cause trouble. Go for it, I dare you. Rovo and Virgil will not be to keen on it, unless you have some real market related material to talk about. If that's the case be my guest. Yes boards are more liberal now without MSN, but I seriously doubt you coming over and causing trouble is something Virgil and Rovo will appreciate.
Go ahead and push my buttons, cause you can ask FTI, Kman, Frank Q and a few others where that leads.
If you haven't been paying attention we have just been discussing how we want the MT board more market related and on subject. Now I'm being nice here, and saying this is over your head unless you decide to be open minded and come here with an open attitude. If your already biased, you'll not last long.
