As some of you know I am getting into foster parenting. I will have my first child in the house by this spring. Do I get to use those expectant mother parking spots in the grocery store parking lot now?

Do you know if it's a boy or a girl?

I gather from some of your other posts that you are looking into doing long term fostering rather than the short term we need to get these kids out of this situation and put them someplace safe while we figure things out type of fostering.

I have a great deal of respect and admiration for foster parents. My across the street neighbor, a retired Army mustang with grandsons rotating in and out of Iraq and Afghanistan, started doing that about 2 years ago. Her longest and current child is a preemie crack baby who is now doing great.
Edited to add: And, she sings in my church's choir.

Yes. It seems around here there is a bigger need for long term. Especially for older girls. Which fits my preferances perfectly.

LOL I hadn't thought that far ahead. Right now I'm trying to get permission to use the expectant mother parking spots.

You have my permission! And if anyone asks, just say you're "carrying small"

LOL. Are those legally defined spots like handicapped or just something the stores designate?
< It seems around here there is a bigger need for long term. Especially for older girls. >
Mmmmm, how much older?

Or point out that the sign doesn't say when you have to be expecting.

The purpose of those stalls is along the line of handicapped stalls, they aren't set up a a prize for being an expectant mother (in whatever form you want to declare).
But if they aren't legally defined and require a parking tag, you could claim Later that since you are still carrying eggs, you are 'expectant mother', just in a future sense.

Drat. That's the problem with my life, the requirements out there are never what I require.

You all should know I also plan to call in sick every time the kid has the sniffles, leave early every time there is anything happening at the school and complain that I need more money because of having a child.

Why don't you just use Charlie as your excuse to use them?

In all seriousness, congrats Later. It's not an easy job because those kids in foster care are often troubled and can take a lot of care and time.

As compared to a dad if it was a boy? LOLOLOLOL I know TD. That is actually a big motivator for me. I have something these kids can use and I have the time and energy to give it now.
