Well, the motivation is your PhD and it sounds like you want it. Take what time you need to feel pissed off about this and then get back to your target. It still sucks I know. Also, sometimes listening to "I pray for you" by Jaron and the Long Road to Love helps, just a little (if you don't completely hate anything country, they played it on other radio stations too, just get past the first 30 seconds or so...)

I mean, I've spent the past few MONTHS doing this work, all for naught. It's so frustrating. I'm trying to catch up here, so if someone's already said this I apologize... Also, you're kinda speaking Greek to me so I'll try to use the lingo in the correct context, but bear with me...That being said - <<in the upbeat, motivational voice of a coach talking to his team that is behind at half-time>> You haven't been wasting your time or spinning your wheels! You have developed an extension to this model that you think is good and has merit. And you told the sleeze about it. You need to get your a$$ back into gear, get with your partner and finish that extension then get it published before the jerkoff can take credit for that, too. Really, what would be better revenge (and actually give a little credit to the fact that you'd been working on this for a while & got shafted) if you took his idea and made it better and YOU get the credit for it - without HIS name on the paper! You need to work double-time to stick it to him! <<coach slaps your a$$>> Now get your head back in the game, you CAN do this! <<end motivational speech>>

Hi KK, are you still up or been away having some snooze time and back? I snoozed, then woke up and had breakfast. Now I'm back (at least, until we head to the grocery store...).

Between the shooting of the Congresswoman--who works with a good friend of mine--my impending birthday , and general anger related to a research project I'm involved with, I just want to cry.
I've never understood why people get depressed because they are getting older & having a birthday. After all, the alternative to having a birthday is not having one & that means that your................dead. So getting older is a GOOD THING.

Technically speaking oldtex, you still have birthdays when you are dead. But they are a lot less fun

With the birthday thing maybe its not so much getting older, after all it beats the alternative right? For me sometimes its about looking at my life and thinking damn this is not how I had planned this. I know that life has a way of working out differently than I planned but that doesn't mean I'm always thrilled with it. I just thought I'd be further along in life by now. I think I'm finally getting the ship righted and I'm satisfied with the direction I'm headed in now. That's not to say I don't still have moments where I hear about friends and I think I'm so far behind but its getting better. I went back for a masters after getting my undergrad degree so when I compare myself to those friends I graduated with back in 2006 I feel like I'm behind and I should have accomplished more by now.

"For me sometimes its about looking at my life and thinking damn this is not how I had planned this. I know that life has a way of working out differently than I planned but that doesn't mean I'm always thrilled with it. " Thinking this way has hurt me too especially for milestone birthdays. Maybe I need to set the bar lower and celebrate that I'm still alive and OK. KK, its not chocolate but fewer calories. I'll send you a karma point later today as a pick me up. My exalter is recharging.

I saw that clip years ago and just about died laughing. How those guys dream up that stuff on the spur of the moment is beyond me. Richard Simmons was just a hoot "tie us TIGHTLY together".
OMG.

Kinetkid - I too am very upset about the Tucson shooting. My cousin is a very good friend of the congresswoman that was shot , in fact he(my cousin) now holds the seat that she use to occupy. Such a senless tragedy.

Yup, I felt very, very, very white when I went to Mexico last year. And as the option appeared to be lobster red from the number of people in that shade, I played it safe with sunscreen.
