How to Add an Avatar

Here are a few sites to get avatars from, as well as how to set one up. If you have others you like, please PM moonbeam (username admin) ...you can also google avatars..

PLEASE DO NOT USE AVATARS WITH BRIGHT FLASHES OR RAPID MOVEMENTS!

We have a number of members who are sensitive to these things and it could cause them to have seizures. Thank you!

How to set your avatar
1. Go to the very top of the page, and look for a button that says 'profile' and click it. You will then see links for "Member's Bio - Modify Profile - Bookmarks". click on the the one to Modify Profile.. NOTE: if you see one of the password fields with **** in it, clear it out before continuing.

2. Scroll down until you find the box that says "Avatar URL" (unless you want to use one of the forum's avatars- then go one line up to the box that says Avatar and pick one).

Similar to posting a pic, you need a URL for whatever you are going to use for your avatar.. Note: some sites give you all kinds of code you don't need. All you need is something that starts with http:// and ends with .jpg or .gif. It should look like this http ://www.free-avatars.com/data/media/84/fantasy_avatar_0544.jpg (minus the space i put after the http to keep the actual picture from showing up).

A couple of things to point out here.
a) URLs that start with "https" do not work. If yours starts with that, try taking the "s" off the end.

b) Long URLs also do not work. If it seems like that could be the case with what your URL, try moving the picture to either photobucket or imageshack. Then use the URL in the field that says "Direct Link"

3. Select the size (two boxes down. I used 100 for both height and width- that is the maximum at this time.

4. Click the button at the lower left that says 'modify profile'
