couponing help

I thought there was a couponing thread here somewhere... so maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

DH and I are planning to start sending care packages to our troups overseas. because we're on a budget, I thought... there are tons of great deals on toiletry items and non-perishables that I never take advantage of because they aren't products I used, but certainly they would be useful for some of our troups. We'd get more bang for our buck and help out even more soldiers.

In the past i've only ever clipped the sunday coupons... but i know there are way way more things out there. Wondering if anyone has any good sites to use, advice, or could point me in the direction of a thread that already exists.

Yes, come see us on the grocery challenge- the girls there will show you how to get things cheap, freap, or free and how to get your grocery bills down as much as possible.

One thing I would suggest is getting a savings/loyalty card for any of your stores that have them. And if you are on FB, like the pages of your fave products' sites.

Also, I'm not sure where you live, but depending on your region there should be a blog about savings for your area. For example, the southern states have southernsavers.com. Also, I love couponmom.com

I just noticed your location as chicago. I am in metro Chicago. There are 3 good blogs for our area. I gal I just don't care for personally buy my younger daught swears by her.

Jill & mashupmom give free couponing/saving classes at public venues (library, park district meeting rooms) fairly often & the info is usually posted on their blogs.

All three bloggers are in the western suburbs but they do cover the main chain grocers, Target, Walmart, CVS & Walgreens. Personally I tend to grocery shop at independent and/or ethnic markets. My fall back/basic price store is Aldi - although Aldi has had the BEST price on strawberries for the last month.
