in convincing people they had no part in the deficit rising? Not even counting earmarks, which McConnel was known as a real porker on,----" the speaker, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell all voted for major drivers of the nation’s debt during the past decade: Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the 2001 and 2003 Bush tax cuts and Medicare prescription drug benefits. They also voted for the Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP, that rescued financial institutions and the auto industry.
Together, a Bloomberg News analysis shows, these initiatives added $3.4 trillion to the nation’s accumulated debt and to its current annual budget deficit of $1.5 trillion. " ----Now I know everyone will pile on with Obamas spending, and they will be right on it. My beef is with those that have gotten so hung up on all the rhetoric that they believe none of the debt was part of their own party's doing.

The deficit grows because politicians of all stripes use government money and policies to purchase their next election. The "tea party" Republicans have taken a stand against excessive government expenditures and, of course, are being savaged by the press and Democrat sympathizers. The "establishment" Republicans are hardly distinguishable from Democrats except that they give away government money to different people in different ways ~ it's still buying votes with everybody else's money. The fact that some Republicans are as guilty as almost all Democrats really doesn't justify the Democrats. Why is it so hard to accept that CHANGE is needed? ~ and it's not the hopey-changie of BHO. I suggest that it's because most of us have had a part in promoting one kind of entitlement or another and aren't really eager to have our share cut.

"in convincing people they had no part in the deficit rising?"
Nobody with half a brain believes them.

I think you bring up an interesting point in how the media is portraying the Tea Party in all this as extreme in their views.
