Grimm calls for balanced budget amendment Published: Aug. 6, 2011 at 9:03 AM WASHINGTON, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- U.S. Rep. Michael Grimm, R-N.Y., Saturday blasted the Obama administration for "overspending, overtaxing and over regulating." Grimm, who represents New York's 13th Congressional District, made the comments in the weekly Republican media address, filling in for House Speaker John Boehner. Grimm called for President Barack Obama to support a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution and end his economic stimulus policies, which Grimm said failed to produce new jobs. "The overspending, overtaxing and over regulating coming out of Washington is creating uncertainty and holding our job creators back," Grimm said. Grimm said he voted for the debt-ceiling bill, calling it a good first step, but "far from perfect." "It puts us on a track to fix our fiscal problems, which will provide more confidence for employers in America, the very people we expect to re-invest in our economy and create jobs," Grimm said. Grimm also repeated the Republican and Tea Party stance of no new taxes. "Listen, we know we have all the tools and resources we need to grow our economy and rebuild this great nation," Grimm said. "The relentless work ethic of the American workforce, innovation and the entrepreneurial spirit and courage to succeed." © 2011 United Press International, Inc. All Rights Reserved. His base is shrinking in some vital areas such as the African American vote. As one African American said. Obama is an embaressment to the black race.

He will only be defeated if the republicans can field a viable candidate, a middle of the road one, and not some far out wierdo. I actually prefer a Pro-American candidate that has some idea of how to balance the books. BTW, if things stay status quo, or worse as I expect, he's already defeated.

There's really no point in him reading how he's going to start changing things now. We've heard all this BS already, and just walk away from the TV when he's on.

EXACTLY, what he's not, Pro-Capitalism. Not his tax the rich and spread the wealth and let the government take over your life. Let the people work and create their own jobs in the private sector. Pro-American is doing the best for the good of the people and not squeezing the life out of the economy and tossing the well-being of the people on the side of the road. For instance, in Corporate America, when the workers do good it makes the boss look good. He is not looking good at this point as it has shown in the downgrade.

I also noticed as soon as Obama speaks on TV or on the Radio yesterday that the Republicans immediatly respond to his remarks... They are taking Obama to task now every chance they can which has him very defensive lately IMHO I wonder if Obama will have another press conference to address the latest downgrade from AAA to AA with a negative outlook for our debt.....the possibility of a further downgrade is now hanging over our economy which has to be pushing up interest rates and borrowinng costs... Growth estimates for the slow recovery will be a wake up call for Obama and the congress, I hope so instead of finger pointing they ought to say how they plan to fix these fiscal issues for our economy

America has the best medical facilities worldwide. Do people want to go on a waiting list when they need a serious operation? No, they fly to the US. His stupid bill has to be repealed also as the doctors were against it and the will of the people.

That's your problem. Keep him in office and watch the US literally fall, if that's your perogative. Most of the Republican Candidates have a stonger record than his bleak history.

You may enjoy living under the religious beliefs of strangers and dancing closer and closer to being exactly like the radical muslims you all fear so much, but I don't.

Another consideration that is being discussed lately is a Democrat who will challenge Obama.....Governor Ed Rendell of PA is one of the names on the list of potential challengers to Obama.. Or Obama may be asked to step aside by the DNC if our economy is in a very bad place in 2012 which is becoming a reality by the so called economic forecasters.. But nothing surprises me anymore about Washington DC Polticians..

I never had a problem waiting for my surgeries. None. Maybe yours wasn't that serious. Sure, I had to have tests before they took my gallbladder out, lost 20 pounds but the last test showed it was an emergency and was called into surgery the next day. If I go to emergency room and say I have heart arrythmias, there could be 100 people wating but they take me ahead of anyone else. I have been though it so don't try to fleece me.

That thought crossed my mind. I think that would be a wise choice for him to have a challenger. Too bad it can't be Hillary. She should have had the nomination. k to you....

If Obama does not get re-elected, then the unwashed disgruntled obstructionists that have plagued his administration like biting flies will have to take up the the task of dealing with their mess... themselves. Considering their track record, the prognosis is not favorable. On the superficial level, they want to remove Obama... below the surface they cringe at the prospect of attempting to deal with the morass Obama faces every day. If Obama is denied a second term, I doubt that it would faze him in the slightest degree. His life will go on, one way or another. As for his detractors... they'll have to find some other scapegoat, and it's likely they'll end up reminiscing fondly of the old days before they got put on the spot and subsequently exposed for what they are... warts on the body politic.

True, so true, they do surgeries by prioritizing the seriousness of the ailment. Stop spinning, you make no sense whatsoever.

Ed Rendell: Obama Could Get Primary Challenge in 2012 CBS News' Political Hotsheet ^ | July 28, 2010 | Jaywon Choe
There has been plenty of speculation about which Republicans will enter the race to challenge President Obama in the 2012 presidential elections.
But on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" yesterday, Democratic Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell threw a curveball into the discussion when he suggested that Mr. Obama could face a challenge from within his own party if he were to escalate U.S. involvement in Afghanistan.
While the governor didn't point to any specific potential primary challengers, he implied that Mr. Obama would need to keep his word on beginning to withdraw troops from Afghanistan in July 2011 to avoid a challenge from the left.
" is really possible," Rendell told Pat Buchanan. "It depends on how far it [the war in Afghanistan] deteriorates."
He added: "But if we start to begin to reduce our presence, I think that's probably enough to keep an anti-war candidate out of the race."

whatever..... clearly you are a "if I get mine, who cares about anyone else" type of person..... that's fine and it's VERY Republican. Can't be bothered to give a shit about anyone else on anything... not at all suprising.....
also interesting that you ASSumed my issues somehow weren't serious..... but you clearly haven't a clue about it.... so you go with whatever fits into YOUR narrow view.

Governor ed Rendell is not some political wonk who shoots from the hip but a very influential member of the DNC....he has excellent credulity among dems and not just in PA...

yep that's how you handle a difference of opinion or someone who isn't willing to toe the party lines..... ignore them, they'll just go away..... lmao.....just keep thinking you can ignore all the voters who don't believe as you do....but it would help if you did try to remember that we are ALL Americans.... not just you and those that agree with you. ;D

I think you will see Obama out on the road more for the next 18 months trying to save his presidency by collecting megabucks to fund his presidential campaign... notice he talked Geithner into NOT leaving him or abandoning a sinking ship of state...interesting...because the Repubs are calling for Timmy's head on a platter after the S&P Downgrade with a negative outlook for the nation's credit ratings
