No WH tour AGAIN. Really sick of that BS but with that a-hole in there, I'd rather wait til we got a decent president in there before touring it anyway but now we have 2 full days so what is best?

Good timing. You can have a front row seat to watch our Republic go down in flames.

So have you been before, and are looking to avoid repeating things you've already seen, or first trip?

A few suggestions
1. Vietnam memorial wall 2. Halocaust museum (this is a sad place....but you CANNOT miss it) 3. Any of the Smithsonian museums 4. The News Museum (fairly new, but one of the best new sites in DC) very interactive, and kids really find it pretty cool 5. National Zoo

Beerwench, that sounds awesome and some great ideas, thank you. All DD wanted to see was the darn WH again but there's always some excuse as to why you can never get in. We didn't get to see it the last time, either. What a joke, some public house funded with taxpayer dollars.

Good suggestions from others. So I will throw in one but don't know how old you child is. I loved the tour of Arlington and the Changing of the Guard.
I can't wait to get back to DC in the spring.

We watched that drill for over an hour, it's amazing. Plus, got to see them change guards.

Go to the Mall at night. Walk it - my favorite direction is from the Lincoln Memorial towards the Capitol building. This never gets old to me - I do this every time I go to DC. Know that the reflecting pool is empty of water for repairs, though - saw that in May when I was there, which was interesting.
The Newsuem is pretty cool - but if you're only there two days, I'd probably skip it as it costs money, and National Zoo and Smithsonian museums are better, IMO.
The old Postal Building is also a neat way to kill 15-30 minutes, and close to the Mall area. You can go to the top of the bell tower, and get a cool view.

Zib,
You do realize that when you complain about your taxes and expect the government to cut services, White House tours come under nonessential services, right?
