Hey Rick or anyone else that can help me....
Goose bought a 2006 Jeep Commander about 2 years ago. It has approximately 48,000 miles on it. On our way down to Kansas the Jeep literally just stalled while he was driving it down the expressway! Scared the crap out of us. Do you know what would have cause that?
Newest issue is...last night I came home from a friend's house and the Jeep was ticking like a time bomb. It hadn't been driven in several hours, but was just ticking. So I asked Goose why his Jeep was ticking like a bomb. He went out and started it up and then shut it off. The ticking continued. Then he started it up again and put it in reverse and backed it out of the driveway. After backing it out he tried to pull it back in and he couldn't get the transmission to pull the jeep back into the driveway. We couldn't get it to drive in reverse either. We had to have the neighbors help us push it back in the driveway. So my question is...what the hell was the ticking sound? Does it sound like our transmission went out (with only 48K miles? Holy hell!)? Or could it be the transmission module/sensor? Thanks for any help. We have been googling it online and so far we have found MAJOR issues with the 2006 Jeep Commander...wish he would have done his research BEFORE buying this car.

I am assuming that it was not the exhaust that was cooling down because it was still ticking this morning. This wasn't a popping sound but literally a ticking sound. So Goose goes out to check on the Jeep, he starts it up...and shifts it into drive...and it works. It did not work at all last night. The ticking then stopped after he pulled it the rest of the way into the driveway.

Oh as far as the stalling. He was going about 70 when it stalled. He didn't realize it stalled because the engine just shut down without any sound at all. He pulled over and then restarted the car.
If you google these problems, they are both problems that other Jeep Commander owners have had and as far as we can see no one can seem to figure out what is causing it.
