Sharpton: Debt fight about 'your mama,' not Obama The Rev. Al Sharpton speaks during the National Urban League annual conference in Boston, ... Thu Jul 28, 6:55 PM EDT The fight in Congress about raising the nation's debt limit isn't about President Barack Obama, but rather, "your mama," the Rev. Al Sharpton said Wednesday. The New York-based civil rights activist told the National Urban League convention in Boston that efforts to drastically cut spending in exchange for raising the debt limit, as some House Republicans want, would put Social Security at risk. "This is not about Obama. It's about your mama," Sharpton said to laughter and applause. "Social Security is about our mamas. And if Obama is a way to protect our mamas then I'm not ashamed to stand with Obama." He urged advocates to change the conversation about the debt limit to one about creating more jobs, which are the convention's theme. National Urban League officials say the effects of government default would put more strain on black families. Sharpton, a former Democratic candidate for president in 2004 and president of the National Action Network, also attacked "states' righters" for using the debt crisis to "destabilize" the central government. He said those strong advocates for states' rights would love to see the federal government destabilized under Obama's administration. In April, Obama addressed Sharpton's National Action Network and conceded there were times when people "lose hope" over whether national politics will ever change. Don't laugh too loud because Reverend Sharpton has his own TV Show now on MSNBC along with other Die Hard Liberals, Lawrence O'Donnell, Rachel Maddow, Ed Schultz, and Chris Matthews and if they too go against Obama on the proposed cuts to Entitlements who knows if that will hurt him in 2012??

I think my mama is pretty well protected. But what we have coming along is an awful lot of young mamas and mamas-to-be, (along with their children), who will never have an opportunity to enjoy what was left to my mama, or what my mama left to me. It was bad enough before Obama came along, and all he has done has been to bring it to a head. We need to get him out of office and use him as THE example of what not to have for a president, , , ever again.
And Reid and Pelosi, too.
(I hope somebody is keeping a file of Pelosi quotes.)

Why is about your mamas? Oh yeah, because Democrat "anti-poverty" programs destroyed the African American family and chased away its father.
Damn race pimp, shilling for da massa'.
The GOP is trying to save SS because we can not go on spending as we are; the government has been a very poor steward of the SS trust fund and to trust that things can continue this way is foolhardy.
Think about what Obama and the rest are saying: we can not afford to pay SS because the government mis-uses the money we forced from you; give us more money!

MSNBC dumped Keith Olbermann and now gave this slot to Al Sharpton......I think this is an insult to their audience if anyone wants to waste an hour and watch Al Sharpton push is agenda on TV....he probably wants to be mayor of New York or run for a senate seat in New York State...

When CNBC HAS COMMERCIALS SHOWING Rachael, Ed, and Chris spewing their political mantra, advertising their programs on MSNBC, I immediately turn Fox Business or Bloomberg Business news on for awhile, until my blood pressure comes back to normal.

The fight in Congress about raising the nation's debt limit isn't about President Barack Obama, but rather, "your mama," the Rev. Al Sharpton said Wednesday.
In a way he is right. The problem is that he is a democrat & see's only now. Our welfare system is much like that old joke about jumping off a 16 story building. After passing each floor the guy says "So far so good". That's exactly the democratic stance on social programs. Start a program that you don't have money for - well so far so good. Have long term problems in systems already in place (like Medicare where theft took 80 billion dollars last year), well it's still viable so "so far so good".
How do you pay for this stuff, what's your plan. Take away from the military & steal from the rich. Alright taking from the rich will end up with less money coming in (as NJ they did that a while back). Take from the military, again OK. What's your answer going to be when we have a "police action" that lose 20 or 50 THOUSAND GI's? Advanced weapons SAVE LIVES. Ok, discount that because Liberals know that there won't be any more wars & besides who really cares if military "hawks" die anyway. The problem is the next step. You fully fund all those social programs but what do you do when you start the next round of social programs & there's no money for them? The answer is overthrow our constitution & start taking 75% of the money made by THE WORKING CLASS (sorry but the numbers just don't add up taking from the rich). It's a never ending screw the masses program.
Oh & Sharpton is a liberal bigoted IDIOT that would sell his own mother if he thought that he could get a good price for her. His only aims are to become powerful & make lots of money. He does that by screaming prejudice prejudice, prejudice while he warps peoples minds who listen to him.

Sharpton was fortunate enough to listen to preachers in the African American church. They have a cadence and command of language that is rare in modern America. indeed. very entertaining. he even laughed at himself when he said it.

Rev. Sharpton has also been at the vanguard of issues promoting equal standards and decency. He has held people accountable for perpetrating negative and racist stereotypes. He confronted the NY Post when they chose to print a controversial cartoon with racist undertones. He has called upon the recording industry to have standards for artists that don't include the use of the "N," "B" and "H" words. Reverend Sharpton's integral efforts in getting radio host Don Imus off the air after the "shock jock" referred to players on the Rutgers women's college basketball team as "nappy-headed hos" has further proven that Rev. Sharpton is an invaluable leader and his successful efforts to mobilize a broad coalition of prominent public figures urging the removal of Don Imus from the airwaves was nearly universally praised, receiving the support from newspaper editorial boards across the country and presidential candidates Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and Senator Barack Obama. Rev. Sharpton was recently in the forefront of the successful effort to block radio commentator Rush Limbaugh from inclusion in a group of investors striving to buy the Saint Louis Rams due to his history of divisiveness and his penchant for making derogatory comments about players that are anti-NFL and racially charged. In response to his effort to have Mr. Limbaugh sacked, MSNBC television host and political commentator Chris Matthews said of Rev. Sharpton: "I'm just saying you are a powerful voice in this country. When you speak out, let's face it, the buildings shake. People do listen to you. You had a lot to do with the noise level here."(October 15, 2009).www.nationalactionnetwork.net/about/leadership/49-rev-al-sharpton.html

In all fairness to Al Sharpton and Chris Mathews who I seldom listen to, but I have not noticed any buildings shaking out on the Left Coast and we live on an earthquake fault line..
