I recently had the power window regulator replaced on my passenger side front window. The window became very slow moving and eventually stuck open. Now there is sort of a burnt wiring smell. The repair shop claims this might be the lubricant and should go away. It has been a week, and the smell is still strong. Any quick fix remedies? I already got an air freshner. Will this ease when the heat wave stops?

Thanks Rick. I sorta suspected this is not normal! If the heat we have had this week didn't bake out the smell, something else is up!

blue, I suspect that the burnt wiring smell is varnish on components of the power window motor getting hot. This means that the motor is working too hard. Which then means something isn't right. To check if the smell is something inside the door, run the window down and smell along the seal at the bottom edge of the window opening. I bet the smell will be much stronger there.
