Ideas on how to get new members to the WIRRs?

Hi all,

The captains have been discussing ways we can attract new members. We have lost some because they won their races and some when we moved from the MSN money boards to the proboards.

This is such a great group. Some of the ideas we have had:

1. Have individuals with blogs add a blog about our site
2. Contact magazines to see if they would feature an article about us (we tried Good Housekeeping and didn't get a response).

If any of you blog would mind writing a blog about us? If know someone who blogs, could ask them to write about us?

If any of you have other ideas, send them our way!

The problem is proboards doesn't have the advertising power of MSN. Being here seems almost un-professional/unofficial. We need to get reps to go back on morning shows like The View etc, or even have big banners outside the channel 4 studios so that Al Roker can come to you.
Even if we had one of those sidebars on facebook where the ads keep popping up.

Or if we can get money bloggers to link to us as a resource/do posts on us.... That should bring in traffic from their readers

I have no problem writing a post about this place. I have mentioned this board on another message board and had a few requests for info about it.

Any chance we could contact Liz Weston and/or Mia to write an article about us? Most of us found the original msn boards because of an article that one of those ladies wrote. I don't know where either of them are, or if they would be allowed to promote a non-proprietary site, but it may be worth a shot!

Maybe we could start a monetized blog to bring in members? A group could take turns writing the blogspots - do it weekly to start??

Captains - in order to reach out I'll need to know who is our spokesperson, can someone PM me here a name and email so they can reach out for an interview? I don't mind being interviewed but there are others with much more interesting stories and I am swamped with work for the next millenia.

I emailed Sherry Petersik at younghouselove.com and asked if they would do a thrifty blog post and talk about our group. She said we could just post on their facebook page instead (poo) but it does have 25k followers.

It's hard to find us on Google. If you Google "get out of debt", "credit card debt", or "Women in Red", this website doesn't show up early in the results. Obviously that's because this is a new website. I know next to nothing on how to improve a website's Google ranking, but I did Google it and here's some info if anyone wants to tackle some of these ideas: google.about.com/od/searchengineoptimization/qt/improverank.htm
