Who are the Women in Red Racers (WIRRs)?The WIRRs are a group of women (and men) who are "racing" their individual debt with the support of each other. The goal is to race our own debt so that we all are debt free.
The WIRRs started on the MSN Money forums by two people who decided it would be fun to race their debt. This idea became very popular and the group rapidly grew -- so much that we had to divide it into 5 different regions. Each region has become its own family where we not only share our concerns and support each other regarding our financial problems, members also share what is going on in their daily lives to get support. Some members who live in the same cities have arranged meetings so they can meet in person!
We have had several members who have won their race and become debt-free and they all have said that the freedom they felt being debt free was the best feeling they've ever had. They all attribute part of their success to the support they got from the members of the boards. As stated earlier, we've become more than a group that races our debt, we've become family.

As we stated earlier, we grew so much we had to divide ourselves into 5 regions. New members are encouraged to join the region that includes the state where you currently reside. If you live in another country, we have the International thread.
Midwest Region: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin.
Northeast Region: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia.
South Region: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas.
West Region: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming.
International Region: Currently represented with Australia, Canada, England, Germany, and France but members living in other countries are welcome!
If you are a current member and want to share your experience with joining the WIRRs, the captains and co-captains would love to have you post about it on this thread so individuals who are curious about the WIRRs will learn from the members what a great group this is.
We also encourage interested individuals to read through the posts in the WIRRs sub-boards to see how awesome this group of women are! We often have individuals who like to read how people are working to pay off their debt without joining -- that is perfectly fine too
