My first zero and I'm under 10 grand! All of my balances are in the negative as well. Working 2 jobs is paying off. My boyfriend and I are moved in and my total bills are going to be less than the rent I was paying before so I should have a pretty big snowball if everything works out. I'm picking up every other weekend at the hospital (PT job) so that will add some more money to my monthly income. With the shift differential, I'll actually be making more per hour than at my full time job! Here's hoping my momentum continues into the new year! idlecrush

Total change for the past month was ($358.36) Decrease.
It’s my one year anniversary today so here is where I ended up. Down $2,779.14. It’s both better and worse then I thought it would be. When I first started I thought I would be down like $5,000 at this point because I didn’t realize how hard it was going to be. Lately I have been having a hard time because I am not willing to give up as much as others but I think I should be pretty proud of where I am at considering had I not joined my debt probably would have just gone up.
My aunt suggested a website to me where you put in all your debts, interest rates, minimum payments and what you are and can contribute and it calculates a payment schedule for you to get your debt to be eliminated as soon as possible. I spoke with both my mother and sister and even though they are under hard financial times themselves, they agreed to let me hold off on making payments with them for the next 6 months to see if I can follow the payment schedule provided by this website. My sister says I am going to get charged interest on my loan but that’s something that I will have to wait and see. If I can follow it without struggling too much it says that I can have 3 debts paid off by the end of 2011 (2 racing and 1 non). If I can follow their plan I will be debt free by May of 2013 aside from my car payment which I should be able to pay off about 2 ½ years early should this be successful. Since I have my families support I think this is the time to try and make it work. I already scheduled all of my January payments and so far so good for that month so I just have to take it month by month and see if I can pull off making the payments it tells me to.

So it appears to me (and I'm just learning) that when you sign on, you can "Exalt" one person. I just did poohbiscit for that nice table - and that gives them their karma!

I just did poohbiscit for that nice table - and that gives them their karma! yup, and it also locks you out from exalting anyone else for some time. I think 2 hours (?) but I'm not sure. there used to be a "smite" button, that took away karma, as well - just in case you see that mentioned around the boards.

Kristin, You did wonderful this year! Almost $3000 is great progress. I've been with WIRR for almost a year and have paid off $3445 this year alone. When I started I thought it would be more like $10,000 and was kind of disappointed at first. But I realized I still paid off a pretty decent amount and would of been $10,000 more in debt if I hadn't joined WIRR. I think when we first start out, we envision paying off unreasonable amounts and put too much pressure on ourselves to reach them. Now as long as I've decreased my debt, no matter how much, it's progress in the right direction.
Can I ask what website you used to set up a payment schedule? I would really like to give that a try.

Jen, Welcome!!! I completely understand how you felt when you added up your debt. When I joined WIRR last January I though I was about $30,000 in debt. When it added up to over $53,000 I was sick for days. I really put my stupidity into perspective. This board will help you alot with encouragement and lots of wonderful advice. Best of luck on your journey to be debt free.

I'm sitting here this morning working on my budget for next month and reflecting on the past year here with WIRR. While we did have a few setbacks over the past year, things would of been far worse this month had I not joined this group and buckled down on our finances. Our biggest accomplishment this year was saving our home with a mortgage modification. We were blessed and very fortunate to have had this option or 2010 wouldn't have been a very good year for us. We are also thankful for we have good jobs that are secure. DH and I wish the very best to all our WIRR friends in 2011 and hope that Murphy takes a permanent vacation this year. Happy New Year everyone and here's to a debt free future!

Hello all! I wanted to finally join the WIRR and make some real progress in 2011. I have far too much credit card debt, and want to make a serious dent in it this coming year. This is scary for me because my total is so high, but doing this will really help motivate me to do what needs to be done! Oh, and I'm from Mass DawnM: 12/31/10, $20,966, NEPT2 CC #1 27.24% 3,581 CC #2 27.24% 1,441 CC #3 26.24% 4,611 CC #4 25.24% 248 CC #5 24.99% 56 CC #6 23.24% 753 CC #7 17.99% 4,890 CC #8 11.24% 89 CC #9 2.90% 4,373 CC #10 2.90% 925 Total 20,966 Yikes! UPDATE!!!Jen:1/1/11, $28,569.00 (12/27/10, $29,396.00 NE1 Proboards, not msn) Hi All!! This is my first update. This table was much harder to figure out than I thought it would be, but I finally figured it out and then it wasn't so bad. The CC Consolidation Loan balance went up because of interest. The payment isnt due yet, but I wasn't sure if i was supposed to add that in, so I added it just in case to keep the number accurate. I feel like my first update is pretty good, but I just got paid and also had some X-Mas $ to put toward bills, soo here goes Debt | Start 12/27/10 | Current 1/1/11 | Difference | Hospital Bill | $575.00 | $0.00 | -$575.00 | Furniture Bill | $1,316.00 | $1316.00 | $0.00 | Car Loan | $7407.00 | $7,079.00 | -$328.00 | CC Consolidation | $20,098.00 | $20,174.00 | +$76.00 | Total | $29,396.00 | $28,569.00 | -$827.00 | Percentage Paid | 2.81% |
Happy New Year ~Jen

Last year, my goal was to pay off all of my debt. I really need to stop beating myself up over not achieving my goals. I think this is the overachiever in myself, which has the ability to set my own personal goals way to high. This morning in yoga class ($10 class every other week, because I really need it!!!), I decided to stop beating myself up and start looking at my accomplishments. I paid down over $10,000 in debt in 12 months, and I saved $3289.24.
I need to stop making excuses for my actions or else I will end up being like Lindsay Lohan. For CC#2, I wish I could blame that all on the dentist appointment I had, but noooooo. A clothing store was going out of business, with everything 50% off, and my husband really needed new pants and shirts for work, so low and behold I spent $175 (because you know, he never buys himself any clothes).
My goals in 2011 are not to buy anything new (besides necessities, such as tires, food, etc) until June 01, 2011, pay off cc #2, and cc#3, and save $5,000 this year. I think this is a little bit more doable.
Good luck to all of you in the 2011!
