UPDATE: Wudnit: 9/3/14, $34,098 (1/13/10 $172915 NEU46)
FINALLY!! All my debt payments get focused on the FINAL debt in my race. As long as I stay focused, the balance should dwindle quickly!! Where I am at is looking so low compared to where I started, however, I still feel that $34,098 in debt is a LOT and am looking forward to eradicating that debt!!

Not bad! I've been being pretty frugal, and it feels good to have some cash in the bank. Just got to keep it up. Pretty soon, I should be able to throw an extra $75 a month at my student loans, which will be about half a payment a month! I've got 49 payments left on the student loan, so an extra half payment a month should have me completing three years of payments in two years, and paying it off a year early. That will be awesome.

EF=$289.61I was avoiding posting this update due to the embarrassment of having my total go up significantly. I decided that I am helping no one by not posting my numbers. There were a number of large expenses that were necessary (brakes), and some that could have been put off. I am not the first person to take a step backwards, and unfortunately I won't be the last. There is nothing to do but accept my situation and start trying to move the totals in the right direction again. My debt numbers are from the beginning of the month. The EF total is current. While I do show all of my debts, with the exception of my daily use credit card, my EF is not a reflection of all of the funds that I do have available to me. I would just prefer not to tap any of the other funds that I have at my disposal. eta: most of the increase in my balances if from transferring $5,000 from my "daily use" credit card to CC#2 and CC#5. At least the transferred balances are at 0% now for a while. -movinonup

EF=$624.61I got a windfall that I am in the process of distributing. Some has been deposited to my Roth IRA. Some has been used to pay off some of my debt. I've pretty much undone the damage that I did last month. I am holding some of the cash at least until I know what my next credit card bills look like. Part of CC#2 will start accruing interest charges as of the next billing cycle. I will probably try to pay that part of the balance. -movinonup

movinonup: Congratulations on the windfall!!! Great use of funds.
TO ALL: Am I the only one who really misses the updated lists? It was just one more way of seeing that we were making progress. No more smiley faces, no more updated lists. It is sad. I am glad to see that people are continuing to update!! It at least shows we are still sticking to our goals.
Also, how do you "like" someone's message?
Thanks!!!

wudnit - Thanks. To "like" someone's post, click the thumbs up button in the upper right corner of their post (between the Quote and Settings buttons).
I also miss the updated lists. I'm hoping that the region consolidation happens soon and we get regular lists.

All-
We still plan to consolidate the regions. I’m hoping we can have it done within a month or two. I’m working with the other captains to get this done. The tentative plan is to have one thread for chatting and questions, and another thread for the smiley updates. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks! IF ANYONE HAS A COPY OF THE NORTHEAST REGION'S SPREADSHEET, LET ME KNOW AND I WILL PM YOU MY EMAIL ADDRESS

Janie4: 10/3/2014 $7,596(07/21/14, $8,620)Debt name | Initial Balance | Min payment | Last update | new payment | current balance | % paid off | cc 15% | $210 | $25 | $0 | $0 | $0 | 100% | cc 2.99% | $531 | $25 | $360 | $114 | $246 | 46.3% | cc 0% until 11/2014 | $216 | $25 | $30 | $30 | $0 | 100% | Student loan | $7,663 | $158 | $7,350 | $0 | $7,350 | 4.08% | total | $8,620 | $223 | $7,740 | $144 | $7,596 | 11.9% |
So I had a voucher I bought for a car detailing get cancelled, which meant another $78 I could through at the CCs, bringing my total down on my low interest card. I save a little bit in an account every week (like $7), and when it gets to approximately $100, I transfer it to pay down debt, which in this case means CC. So I should be able to make another big dent by the end of the month. I should be done with the CC by the end of the year, unless I get a windfall sooner. That's when I can start throwing money at the student loan.

Dear Racers,
I am trying to drum up a few more members and/or regular posters for the Women in Red Savers 2014 thread (and hopefully for 2015).
For the longest time I didn't join them because I was focused on paying off debt. Then I started to realize that some of the Savers are also as focused on debt as I am. But we try to set money aside, at least for those semi-annual or annual, but predictable, expenses (like car insurance, property taxes, and so on). It's fine to track your savings that you know will be spent within a certain period of time (a/k/a sinking funds, where you need only track your money deposited; forget about the withdrawals). It could be something fun (vacations!), or something completely boring but necessary (EF, anyone?).
Some Savers set an annual goal and restart at zero each January. Others set a goal and keep chipping away at it regardless of the number of years it takes to save up (for example, a house downpayment often requires savings over multiple years). Some people track retirement contributions. Other people don't. Some only track extra money they can set aside, and others track automatic deposits into savings accounts. Whatever is your style, it works for us.
We all have a little bit of the Saver instinct in us. Please read a few of the Saver pages and see if it interests you. You'll see all sorts of saving styles and goals. If you're interested in trying it out, see the first few posts in the Savers 2014, and get started!

Hi all, I lapsed from the MSN boards, restarted here and then lapsed again. I'm back again, and hopefully, I'm here to stay this time. I can't find the old MSN boards, but I did find my posts from 2012 on this board, so if you don't mind, I'll start with the same debt I had in 2012 and update from there. (It feels better to be halfway done rather than starting over again.) Without further adieu: Accounts | Starting | Current | Difference | % Paid | CC #1 | $311.08 | $653.27 | -$341.10 | -210% | SL #1 | $6066.89 | $0 | $6066.89 | 100% | SL #2 | $34757.95 | $21623.05 | $13134.90 | 37.8% | Total | $41135.92 | $22276.32 | $18860.69 | 45.8% |
NoDebt42: 10/9/14 $22,276.32 (7/31/12, $41,135.92, NE90) I stopped because though I finished paying off student loan #1 at the end of 2012, my 2013 was devoted to saving and I barely paid off anything (though I did increase my savings from around $500 or $1000 to about $10K). In 2014, I've been attacking that larger student loan and it's demoralizing to see it decrease by such a small amount each month, but I'm trying to keep my eyes on the prize which this group helps with. (Credit card is awaiting an expense check from the company. That'll take care of $578 of it and I'll do the rest at that time. It'll go up and down, but it's under control.)

Is it possible to have a table with borders without using the border feature in the quick reply? I'd like to have borders in my table, but I don't want to have to create a new table and insert numbers every month. I'd rather just copy from my spreadsheet that does all the calculating for me.

I don't know if this is possible. What I do is I copy my previous post, delete the quote tags in the BBCode tab, and change the data. Doing it this way I don't have to retype my account names or my original balances. I also don't have to change my original total in my tagline. It's not quite what you want, but it may be helpful. -movinonup

Not bad. There probably won't be super fast progress over the next few weeks. I am going to Chicago to visit my sister, and I'm right in the middle of holiday season - gifts for four friends, my parents (including their birthdays), and my sister and brother in law. But I feel like I'm doing ok.

Looks like I'm due an update. I will do so when USAA pays their portion of the HEL promo--sometime around Oct 31st, according to the email that I received from them. That will pretty much obliterate the HEL. After that, I'm committing to paying off my CC in the next 12 months. It took a beating during my vacation this past three weeks. I should have that update up next weekend.

One way to ensure you don't use your CC: discover fraudulent charges and have to report it to the bank which results in them closing the account. lol. I'm thankful this happened AFTER my vacation.

WIRR consolidated thread to launch in the next couple of weeks Within the next couple of weeks, I will be locking the threads for the individual regions and going live with the consolidated threads. There will be two new threads: one for discussion, posting updates, asking questions, etc.; and a separate thread where the captains will be posting the smiley updates. The captains for the consolidated boards are: Minnesotagirl7, jdnstl, LaramiK, speechchick71, urdoingit, and idlechatter. Please be patient with us for the first few weeks after we launch the new threads. Let us know if we miss anything or if you have suggestions for improvement. While it’s a bit of a bummer that our numbers have dropped and we’re going back to being one big happy WIRR family, this is also a great opportunity to get to know other racers, learn new tips & tricks, and maybe even get a new perspective on your race. Happy racing everyone!

Awesome! I'm looking forward to seeing a more steady pace of updates and discussions. Will a Galactic State of the Union also be posted to commemorate the transition?
