Idawn-it would be good to wait until after the wedding. No sense, if there is any sort of unexpected thing happening, running yourself short and getting into more debt. I was anxious to pay mine off too but my friends told me to wait. I did and it was better in the long run. Once the wedding is over and everything has settled down, you can re-look at your budget. Being in tight control is good... being on such a fine line you squeak isn't.

And as you say once the wedding is over you can possibly put more money towards it and pay it off just as quick (if not quicker).

Thank you guys so much! That's so sweet! El was sneaky to have told y'all LOL! It was just a small loan, and I wasn't officially "racing" it! Of course I'm glad it's gone though! ETA: I still have plenty of debt left (about 79K)! It's all rental debt though, so for now, I'm not "racing" it. I'm giving ourselves a "raise" of 160/mo (which is pretty much eaten up by rising prices and our recent life-insurance policies).

Shoutouts!
Idawngirl- Good for you for making a tough decision! I’m sure it will be worth it when you’re on your honeymoon! Fabulous update – can’t wait to see you cross that 75% paid off threshold!! As far as your loan, I would stick with the payments of $325. You mentioned that you were worried about stretching your budget too much, and if that’s a potential concern, especially with a wedding on the horizon, I’d just try to be patient for now and stick with the $325. InDebtYogini- Woo hoo, congrats on your new 0! Way to go lady! Check out all of those awesome milestones: 70% paid off – done! $10k paid off – done! Nice work!! debtheaven- Glad to hear the garden is looking for nice!

Hey all. Sorry I've been mia. I started my new job on the 6th, and was immediately thrown into training. We also had a big party at our house this past weekend, so all of my spare time was spent cleaning and prepping. Training is only for another week, then I'm off for the 4th of July holiday. I can't wait for that long weekend!! Hope you guys are doing well. Vroom, vroom!!

Lovely to see you Minnesota! Hope the new job / training is going well!
We put out 2/3 of the garden refuse last night (they come on Tuesdays). A HUGE amount, for us. DH was driving DD to school at 7 am today as they pulled up (we don't usually drive her but she's taking her Baccaulaureat) and he apologized to the garbage men. They said, but that's what we're here for! So after they took everything, DH gave them 10e to say thank you.
It was funny, because the other day I suggested tipping them. (We tip them at Xmas, it's par for the course here. You don't have to give much but you have to give something.) DS3 said, but isn't that bribery? I said, if you tip them it before they take it, it's bribery. But if you do it afterwards, it's a thank you. LOL.
Fingers crossed for DD's Baccaulaureat. Every day she comes home and tells me how badly she messed up that day's exams, and how she'll never pass. At the beginning I was sure she was wrong (she's not objective) but now I'm worried. Her last day of exams is tomorrow, the results are in on 5 July.

Good luck to your DD DH! I'm sure she's doing well. If I remember correctly, she said the same things about her testing for college, didn't she? It always seems worse right after the fact!

Thank you all! Speech, yeah, I just can't stay away or shut up LOL.
EL that's really so sweet of you! I just feel kind of funny about all these shout-outs when it was a 2K loan that I wasn't even racing LOL.
I just got ANOTHER job today! Sort of ... it's not a regular job, but I was just hired as a substitute teacher at the English department of my son's International School. Subbing doesn't pay well but it's "a foot in the door". I actually applied for a PT job there, he said he can't yet give me a fixed position, but he asked me if I would be willing to sub and I said yes.

Yay DH! That's awesome news about the subbing position. It is definitely a great way to get your foot in the door and hopefully it'll turn into something more.
In big news, DF and I had dinner with his family as his aunt and uncle were in town. Out of nowhere, his aunt and uncle gave us (and DF's siblings) each a cheque for $5,000! I was floored! It was completely unexpected and so nice of them. They said it was because we are getting married this year and they wanted to give us all a gift. I had to re-check the zeros on that cheque several times! We're not too sure what we're going to do with it yet. There are numerous possibilities of course.
The number one thing is that we're going to put it in the wedding account and hold on to it. This is the 'weight off my shoulders' from wedding costs. DF's family is still planning on giving us money for the wedding, so with their contributions and our current/planned savings, we'll be okay for the wedding, but JUST IN CASE something comes up, this will more than cover it.
After the wedding or after we receive the money from DF's family, we're going to either put the money towards a house, a car or put it on the debt. Since it all happened last night, DF and I haven't had a chance to talk it through.
Either way, it's very exciting! We'll have a nice jump start on saving for a house/car or we can pay off the debt and start putting the money we pay to that into savings.

What a wasted day! We spent 9.5 hours at the community garage sale. DS3 and DD made ... drum roll ... about 70e. The stand cost us 24 (my friend and I shared a large stand). She raked it in ... I would too if I was selling 250e designer dresses with the tags still on for 10-15e. We shlepped eight bags there, and six bags back. I saw a charity donation box (?) on the way home. It was pretty full but I managed to stuff the contents of one bag inside. So now only five bags left. They are all going to charity, NOT back into the basement!
The kids have finally figured out that they will NOT get rich selling their old clothes for a few euros. (Each kid seems to need to find that out for himself/herself). DS3 REALLY wanted to do it and I promised him we would, so we've been accumulating stuff for 18 months. It was fun being with our friends, but I won't do that again. I'm happy to (sort of) have our basement storage room back though! It's not perfect (I've come to the conclusion that it never will be) but at least it's MUCH better than it was.
ETA: Found another "donation box" today, so two more bags gone, only three left (the three that aren't clothes).
