In a search for something else I came across this article..I found it facinating..it is a recount of the happenings , a oral history, of the military personnel of the "Old Guard " in Washington who took part in the buriel of President John F Kennedy. I found it facinating, it is long..I read through the one who held the reins of "Black Jack " the horse who followed the Caisson..and his story and the next one..one of the Sgts who were one of the Pall Bearers..I had no idea the casket was so heavy..also I had forgotten that Air force One also did a fly over during the service at Arlington, just with the crew on board. That i remeber was very moving and sad. We who have served in different catagories , where ever we served , in battle or in support..we all had a job to do and we did our jobs..these young men at this time did theirs, sop very well , and they remember every minute of this assignment through out their lives as told here, and I do remember the funeral, did not leave the TV , black and white I beleave , in fact know, till that Sunday when my wife and I went with some couples to the Bowling Alley, just to get out and back to living a normal life. The place was packed I remember as it seemed the whole town felt the same way and was there to start getting back to normal again. I hope some of you enjoy this as much as I did in reading their stories. ------------------------------------------ www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2143214/posts
