it's not like they are keeping air travel secure. www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43590961/ns/travel-news/Man gets past airport security with invalid boarding passOlajide Oluwaseun Noibi of Nigeria arrested, found with 10 other expired boarding passes Federal agents have arrested a Nigerian man after he successfully flew from New York to Los Angeles, and then attempted to fly from Los Angeles to Atlanta, without having a valid boarding pass for either flight. Olajide Oluwaseun Noibi cleared security at John F. Kennedy International Airport on June 24 and successfully boarded Virgin America flight 415 — even though his boarding pass was not issued in his name and was for a flight the day before, according to the FBI. But neither Virgin America nor the Transportation Security Administration noticed that Noibi's identification — a University of Michigan student card — did not match the name on his boarding pass. Mid-flight from New York to Los Angeles, a flight attendant noticed Noibi was sitting in a seat that was supposed to be vacant. Noibi showed the attendant the expired boarding pass and then showed him a student identification card with his picture on it. The boarding pass was issued to a different man, who said it went missing from his pocket on his way to the airport June 23. "After discovery, the crew kept the subject (who was asleep for much of the flight) under surveillance, but at no time felt there was any threat to the security of the flight," according to a statement from Virgin America. Los Angeles FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller says that the Virgin America flight crew notified law enforcement officials, who met the plane on arrival at Los Angeles International Airport. FBI Agent Kevin R. Hogg met the flight and detained and questioned Noibi. "He wasn't arrested at that time. Beyond traveling without a ticket, there was no immediate threat," Eimiller said. University of Michigan spokeswoman Kelly Cunningham said that Noibi is not a current student but was enrolled as an engineering student at the Ann Arbor university between 2004 and 2006. Noibi was arrested Wednesday when law enforcement officials saw him trying to board another flight and discovered he had more than 10 other expired boarding passes belonging to others in his bag. Noibi has been charged with being a stowaway. *******click the link above for the rest of the story.

I think every state should have their own rules and regulations regarding airline safety. It might work.......

I think every state should have their own rules and regulations regarding airline safety. It might work....... given the wide range of scrutiny at various airports, I'd venture that we already do have state rules....even if not officially.

Airline safety is a highly expensive venture and has many gaps that cannot be covered. It really is nothing more than an exercise in making people feel safe and keep flying so the airlines will not go broke. We have seen clumsy attempts in the past of the shoe bomber and underwear terriorist. but the true fact is if a organized terror group wanted to destroy a plane there are a hundred ways to do it and no way to stop them if they put their mind to it. So if you fly just carry your Rosary beads and say Hail Mary's till you land. That in truth is as good as it is going to get.

So, let me get this straight. I fly with my husband and two toddlers, complete with the strollers, sippy cups, toys, books, snacks, diapers, wipes, DVD player, change of clothes for everyone, and I have to stop every 3 feet and show my ID and my boarding pass, and the boarding pass is subjected to strict scrutiny while the my toddlers are rapidly scurrying away while barefoot because I haven't had a chance to get their shoes back on, and then my husband is selected for extra scrutiny for god knows what reason, but this dude manages to make it through without showing gov. ID?! How does this happen?

Why does someone have 10 expired boarding passes belonging to other people in his possession?

Exactly...if terrorists wanted to bring down a plane they wouldn't even need to step foot in the airport, much less actually be on the plane. All of this "security" is just BS to make people FEEL like they are safe.

One needs only look at who is in charge. It's the same people who are charge of the southern border. And haven't we been told by Mizz Napolitano that not only is it secure, but that we are in greater danger from GI's coming back from the wars? Here's one reader's comment off the net: Traitors don't get shot, treason earns re-election and honest people are treated like criminals more and more every day and told to stop complaining - it's for our own good. Please convince me that I'm safe under this admiinistration.

When I was in highschool, they wanted to drug test students. It was in the middle of Reagan's second term and the nation's new national motto was, "Just Say No" and the drug war was entering a new and dangerous phase. My parents went ballistic. I couldn't understand at that time what the big deal was? I had nothing to hide. And that's when I first learned that the question of what you have to hide is not the point. I had good parents.
I remember at that time that my dad said something then that I repeat now: Once we decide we'll pee in a bottle basically with someone watching and hand a jar of our pee to someone-- once we do that, there'll be very little we won't be subjected to.
There'll be little left to object to.

And apparently he is/was a serial traveller. 3 cities in 3 days: "Chicago, Detroit and now spying on New York". But of course there are no more like him out there. Just ask Mizz Napalitano. . . . Napalitano , , ,Napalitano , , doesn't that name ring a bell? Wasn't she the governor of Arizona, the state with the biggest illegal alien entry problem in the country? Wasn't she picked by Obama because of her vast experience in how to rout out the bad guys? latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2011/07/stowaway-suspect-noibi.html

'Wasn't she picked by Obama because of her vast experience in how to rout out the bad guys?'
I wondered why bho picked her for anything.
Speaking as a tax paying registered voter citizen of the Great State of Arizona .... I hereby deny her passport to this state. I didn't vote for her as Governor and I definitely don't want her back.

Obama picked her because Obama's mission is to create chaos and confusion and to weaken the United States-- soften us up, ripen us for submission to a big global government.
