Saveinla - I didn't get this option. Did it come in an email? or did you log on to your CVS account?

I'm still new to couponing, but here are a couple things I'm excited about: CVS - I just got a tag thingy for $.99 where you bring your own bag, scan the tag, and after 4 visits get $1.00 ECB. I've been meaning to get this, and kept forgetting, but finally got one yesterday. I had to get a prescription filled, so while I was waiting I was wandering around the store and saw trash bags for the city I live in. We have to buy special trash bags for $10.00 (for 10 small or 5 large bags), and all the local grocery stores sell them. But I didn't know CVS sold them, so now I can start using my ECB and knock down the price of the trash bags I HAVE to buy. Rite Aid - I had to run to Rite Aid for my company, I needed batteries for my mouse, and I got them on sale for $5.77, and got $1.00 UP reward. This an expense my company will pay for, and I can keep the $1.00 UP reward. And . . . I got a survey! I just completed it, printed my $3.00 off next purchase of $15.00 or more. Now I hope there are some good deals within the next two weeks so I can use it. I am still taking it slow with the couponing, I have my Sunday paper delivered so usually only have one coupon for anything. I want to bump up my couponing a little now, so I will probably get another paper if the coupons are good. munjoyhill: Good job; taking it slow and easy is the EXACT thing to do. Unfortunately, the couponing world is slower right now than it has been in years so just be very patient. Summer is always a little slow, but I do not remember it ever being THIS slow in the past several year. Here are a couple of suggestions that may or may not help you: Try to get extra inserts from family, friends, co-workers or neighbors. If you can get just a couple of people to give you inserts that they don't plan to use anyway, it can save you money in buying newspapers every week or paying for a subscription. Also, remember that when you get the survey codes at RA, you do not HAVE TO take the survey right away. You have two weeks to take the survey and then two weeks to use the coupon from the time you print it. So IF you have nothing specific in mind where you would use a $3/$15, it might be advantageous to wait to do the survey giving you a little more time to figure out a deal that will give you the most bang for their buck. ;D I hope that made sense. HTH

I went online to look at my CVS account, I had a $5 beautyclub reward coupon waiting for me. I see the "send to card" at the top of the column, but it said the $5 one was print only. I'll be curious to see about loading them onto the card. Will you have the option of using them, or will it just automatically use them on your next purchase?

saveinla: There is a REASON why CVS may be going to this. Every time a store offers something new, I have to think what the benefit is to them vs what the benefit is to me. IF we don't have a paper coupon for our EBs, it will be much more difficult to keep track of when they expire. That physical piece of paper is a reminder of what we have. The upside could be having an EB balance like a gift card balance where the value of all your EBs were lumped together and have no expiration date thereby eliminating picking and choosing which EBs to use for executing a deal; but I don't know if that's what they have in mind - probably not. For me, first I wrap my EBs around my EB card. The one that is going to expire next is on the top of the "bundle". I also keep an excel spreadsheet that shows me "at a glance" divided by sales weeks, what EBs I have, what I got them for, how much they are worth, and when the exact date within each sales week that they are going to expire. Keep us posted with any additional news that you might get.

I went to my fav cashier at Safeway the other day. Over a year ago she had asked me about how I found all the great deals and I gave her a couple of websites (HCW and MFA) and she really got into it. Well, she told me that she's not doing it any more. So here's an example of someone who went all gung ho and is now using few if any coupons - and at a time when you'd think that you'd need to the most. The next time I go through her line, I'm going to ask her why she's not couponing any more. It would be interesting to find out because since she started, the economy has only gotten worse. She also mentioned to me that Safeway, Dominick's, Vons is going to be imposing more limits on coupon usage. Since I don't have double coupons the only thing that I think they could limit is the number of like coupons in the same transaction. This could screw up the deals where you have to buy 8 or more of an item to get an additional discount. I never get THAT MANY great coupon deals from the grocery stores anyway. If I didn't have WAGs and CVS, the amount of FREE food that I would have gotten over the past year would be pretty slim pickings. Well, couponing does take time. And, a person might have other obligations - family etc. This past year, I inspired my sister to get more on the couponing bandwagon. She's really good about taking coupons to do her grocery shopping. But she doesn't really do the drugstore deals too much (a bit at CVS). But recently I set up a video value account for her, watched the videos & sent her the coupons. And I sent her coupons for free stuff that I had obtained. And I just found out she hasn't used any of the free q's I've sent her! But I realize she is so busy! She has a VERY active toddler son. And, the other reality is that she & her husband earn good incomes. So, there is the time factor. She seems to be cutting down her grocery bill to 50%, which is awesome. But she doesn't chase the individual deals. So, a different situation than what you described, but I think a lot of it has to do with other things that take up a persons time.

I am still taking it slow with the couponing, I have my Sunday paper delivered so usually only have one coupon for anything. I want to bump up my couponing a little now, so I will probably get another paper if the coupons are good. I have a question, I don't have a printer at home, but can occasionally use the one at work. Last year I tried to download the "print bar" for a coupon site (at my work computer), and accidently downloaded a virus, my IT person was upset with me for this. So, I can't print coupons at work. But my question is, I just printed the Rite Aid coupon $3/$15 and it printed with no problem, I didn't download anything. Is there a coupon site out there where you can routinely print coupons without downloading the "print bar"? munjoyhill, The RA survey coupon comes from the rite aid site and is not like the regular coupons. You need to download the coupon printing software for printing the bricks and smartsource coupons. If you need something, you can always post a Hound Alert here and if available, someone will always send them to you. HTH Munjoyhill, As SaveinLa mentioned, you do have to accept coupon printing software for the regular coupon sites. I have a feeling, though, that you had downloaded something from a less-than-reputable site. When I first started this on-line couponing, I didn't know the difference (I mean, who would, unless someone tells you) and I signed up with my e-mail on a bunch of sites. I now get about 100 spam a day. Thank goodness for the spam box. LOL. coupons.com, smartsource.com and redplum.com are all reputable. However, I would certainly not recommend you use even those at work, since you got into trouble once. So, like SaveinLa said, you can just put out a hound, even for printables.

dancinmama,
My Safeway store close to my home already will not take more than 2 of the same Q and if they limit it further, then they will not get any couponers. This store only has this policy whereas another store a mile away will accept as many Qs as you have, but only double the first two which is what their policy states.
Anyways, we have so many stores here. I was looking at the Tuesday inserts and we have 10 or more stores close by competing for our business - SW, Kroger, Albertson, Henrys, Smart & Final, Fresh & Easy, Trader Joes and 4 or more local stores, in addition to the farmers market. So if they restrict it further, they will be the ones loosing out since Kroger has a great policy on coupons.

Regarding the CVS online coupons, I have not seen anything else, other than what I posted and I don't think they will allow ECBs to be stored on the card, but we will see. More as I know more.

I think they expire 9/30. I'll send you some today as I can always get more. Seems no one but me ever takes the pamphlets even though it says COUPONS INSIDE in big letters! Oh well...better for those of us that notice. I'm sad the produce $1/$5 expire 8/3. I used so many of those combined with cherrypicking the produce sales.
I do have your addy!

Murpath, I too am sad about the end of the $1/$5 q. That was a rare coupon. To be able to use it on any type of produce was awesome. I still have a few left.

We're good recyclers and all, but good grief my trash bag budget alone would be at least $20 a month!!! Sweetie that totally sucks! I think you'd see me on the Hoarders show if I lived there because I would be too cheap to buy the bags so I can throw something away. Please tell me your garbage pick-up is free....

I too am sad to see the end of the $1/$5 produce coupon. I wish it was valid through August.

In addition, right now there are such slim pickins on the deals. It was more worth the time when you could pick up several free items in one trip as opposed to one or two now IF you're LUCKY. It takes the same amount of time and gas to get to the store, but the rewards are not as great. If I had a high income job, I would really have to look a lot more closely at the cost/benefit these days. In '09 and '10 there is no question in my mind that CVS was worth the time and effort because it seems like with almost EVERY transaction I was able to find a way to stockpile something that we needed AND make a profit in EBs; this is definitely not the case today. If your sister is saving 50% over what she used to spend, she's doing really well. I would just let her know when there are really easy freebie deals - ones that are super straight forward, like the Milka chocolate deal at WAGs. That way she can stockpile the freebie and then not be too tied down to rolling rewards. Another example would be the freebie Noxema razors - straight forward and practical. In the olden days, before drug chain rewards and catalinas, that's all there was (easy, straight forward deals) and I was still able to save a boatload of money using multiple coupons by stockpiling at rock bottom prices.

I hadn't even noticed that part of your OP, Munjoyhill, until Nickyleey pointed it out. Those are some seriously expensive trash bags! Trash bags is one of the things I was able to collect for free this year. I have a list of items I wanted to get for free, and that was one of 'em. I think I have been able to get close to a 2 yr supply free. But - so many other things I would still love to get for free and haven't just yet! Or, at this point, even cheap would do!

My sister is doing awesome with her grocery savings. They live in NYC, so it is pretty critical to save money where you can, even if you have a so-called higher income. I think it's just too much for her right now to get to the drugstores. She knows how to do it - it's just a time issue. And that's ok. Life is all about balance.

And then, to add, about myself... Sometimes I think "Wow, I really should stop collecting body wash, razors, etc. because I have so many - like a 5 year supply!" But ... my hope and plan is to get back to working at some point as I get better. So, I've decided I'm just going to continue to stockpile these free items. Because, when I am working again, it will probably be hard for me to do as much shopping. The Dr's have warned me that I have to take it easy & won't be able to go-go-go like I used to. So, realistically, when I am working, a lot of shopping will probably be too much. So, I figured, if I stockpile now, won't it be fun, say 7 years from now, to still be having free bodywash? How cool will that be! Seriously

I figured out a deal earlier today at K-mart to get a free Skintimate cream shave. But I would ONLY recommend you try this if K-mart is near to you, or you are heading there anyway. Price break on the Skintimate cream shave is $1.99 K-mart super coupon $1 off Coupons.com mq $1 off Equals free! The reason I caution you about this is: 1. It's a limit of 1 2. You need to have a Shop Your Way Rewards card (Kmart or Sears will work) 3. You need to locate the k-mart coupon book. (I found it near the front of the store.) 4. The deal didn't fly through. The cashier, after quite some time, did something to make it work. But it seemed like neither the store q nor the mq would go through. So I don't want anyone getting a big hassle over a one item freebie. I almost didn't post this, because I don't want anyone to have trouble with this, but I figured someone might be near or going to k-mart, and wouldn't mind getting this freebie!

Kroger deals today (most of these will end Saturday for you guys, my ad runs until Tuesday night), I thought these were especially good deals for me:
Wisk 3.49 (WYB ten mega event items) less $2 coupon in 6/26 RP = 1.49 Lean Cuisine meals (I like the little pizzas, but they have a lot of sodium) 2.49 (WYB 10) - 2.25/4 IP = 1.93 Chi chis salsa 1.49 (WYB 10) - .50/1 coupon (doubles at my store)= .49 Classico 1.99 (WYB 10) -$1/2 coupon (IP and MC available= 1.59 and get a $1 OYNO WYB 4
Sale items (not mega event) .99 colgate - .50/1 coupon (doubled) = .01 overage 1.43 kids flavored colgate (bakugan on clearance) - .50/1 coupon (doubled)= .43 for kids toothpaste works for me 1.00 Oreo, chips ahoy containers (great for bookbags and back to school snacks) used $1/2 nabisco coupon (as my full size cookie packs were sale priced as 2.39 at my store instead of 1.68 like lots of blogs listed)= .50 1.88 danimals 6 pack - $1 MC= .88 for 6pack of kids yogurt (best price I've seen in a while) 1.00 packs of 5 oz Hillshire farms lunch meat - .35 MC (7/10 RP) doubled at my store= .30 per pack, love this price!!! Wish I had more coupons!
Well, this is the first time in a long while, I have felt like I had anything "coupon-worthy" to report. I hope it helps someone....

Kroger deals today (most of these will end Saturday for you guys, my ad runs until Tuesday night), I thought these were especially good deals for me: Wisk 3.49 (WYB ten mega event items) less $2 coupon in 6/26 RP = 1.49 Lean Cuisine meals (I like the little pizzas, but they have a lot of sodium) 2.49 (WYB 10) - 2.25/4 IP = 1.93 Chi chis salsa 1.49 (WYB 10) - .50/1 coupon (doubles at my store)= .49 Classico 1.99 (WYB 10) -$1/2 coupon (IP and MC available= 1.59 and get a $1 OYNO WYB 4 Sale items (not mega event) .99 colgate - .50/1 coupon (doubled) = .01 overage 1.43 kids flavored colgate (bakugan on clearance) - .50/1 coupon (doubled)= .43 for kids toothpaste works for me 1.00 Oreo, chips ahoy containers (great for bookbags and back to school snacks) used $1/2 nabisco coupon (as my full size cookie packs were sale priced as 2.39 at my store instead of 1.68 like lots of blogs listed)= .50 1.88 danimals 6 pack - $1 MC= .88 for 6pack of kids yogurt (best price I've seen in a while) 1.00 packs of 5 oz Hillshire farms lunch meat - .35 MC (7/10 RP) doubled at my store= .30 per pack, love this price!!! Wish I had more coupons! Well, this is the first time in a long while, I have felt like I had anything "coupon-worthy" to report. I hope it helps someone.... misspt: I don't have a Krogers, but thank you for posting. I'm sure that it will help someone.

Seriously leanna: You have the exact right strategy. There were several times in '09 and '10 when I questioned whether I needed more shampoo or dish washing liquid or several other items that I have stockpiled. Many times the product was needed to get a deal on another product or would result in a profit in rewards that could be used to buy food. Now, the deals are not as plentiful and I am soooo glad that I went for it. In addition, it has been a win/win for my local food pantry because they told me the things that they need the most are hygiene items. Many of the local stores donate food, but they rarely get donations of shampoo or razors or diabetic needs.

Weaselfer: Do you still get double coupons? misspt, We get double Qs at Kroger, but only up to a dollar. They were out of Wisk 2 days ago and told me to call in today. Hopefully they will have more today. I find that I like the Wisk a lot better than the other detergents. I used it on a load of soiled whites and they came out really clean. For me, 1.49 is a great price on detergent. Thanks for the reminder.

MissPT,
I have Fred Meyers, which I think is the sister company to Krogers. Wisk is $2.99 (w/store q) this week. I used the $2 q's, so that nets out to .99 for 50 oz.
I usually only buy Tide, because that is the only detergent that will work for my husband's work clothes. But I figured, this was a good price on the Wisk and I could use it on our whites and my cold wash items.
I'm glad to see your opinion on Wisk SaveinLa, because I wasn't sure how good of a detergent it was. But for .99, and for the purpose I plan to use it for, I figured it would be ok.

PDF Ethics question. Many sites let you print two coupons. When a manufacturer provides a PDF, you can print MANY times, but what is the rule? Do you print one? Two? Ten?
Thanks.
