If that bottom rung is only large enough for one; then I probably should start making my reservation for it very soon.... see you'all there.

Arch - You have a long way to go until you hit the bottom this week, hon. Now, Mod, didn't you learn to share? It's my rung. In fact, I stink so much this week that the horseflies are already swarming.

Percentage wise, CMFO certainly fell under an evil spell today. The bottom rung is in jeopardy.

Darn it, SBS, did you grope my horse as he passed you.... jumped back 12 cents near the close. No fair cheating.... that last rung is mine!

SBS, shhhh, it's a secret formula mixed with hay. Lotta green leaves of some sort prescribed by a sneaky, weird vet. He handles it himself, will not let me near the stuff; say's I may run ahead of all the horses, and that would not count, just getting him in trouble. Well. anyway it must be some good powerful stuff.

Thank you Mr. Bernanke. Or maybe I should say thank you all the people who didn't prepare for what everyone knew he had to do and say. Methinks the relief rally is over and we can get back to the business of digging our way to a bottom.
These be shinin' times, with lots of money to be made fer them what's headed in the right direction.
Now, I could be wrong. I was wrong on something else once before, but have forgotten exactly what it was. Best I recall I had made some move or other regarding the buying or selling of some stock (or maybe it were a mule or horse or plug o' 'backy). Then I began to question that action. It turned out what I had done was right, so I was wrong to have second-guessed it.
Another 40 points and we break that 1250 S&P number that everyone seems to think is so important, then I reckon it'll be "Katie, bar the door." as the Griz will be breaking in. But he's a nice Griz -- he doesn't want to eat anybody, all he wants is the shirt off your back. Then again, his only tools for taking the shirt are teeth and claws, so it might prove a remarkably painful experience regardless of his relatively non-violent intent.
Please advise Gnl Hill to move up his corps with all possible speed.

OMG, I'm passing out in this rarified air. Hope the stable boy feeds more special vet formula overnight and SBS gropes the horse at 9:30 in the morning .... if we cannot get the the bottom, might as well go for the roses this week. Most likely will not happen

"Now, I have to figure out if I'm going to shove him off, steal some of your hay, or just try to pass rovo to make this a successful week." I would certainly be persuaded to move up by the gift of a nice Snow Leopard hat. It'd do me proud to have such a fine article of apparel to wear at rendezvous.

*AHEM* I excused your first snow leopard comment, but this is too much. Snow leopards are beautiful creatures and should be left in peace; NOT be made into hats or jackets or anything else. Has Virgil gotten to you too?

Well, don't be gettin yer dander up. I ain't kilt no snow leopards. I trapped most o' the Rockies an' never saw no snow leopards nor has any other trapper I ever met. That's why I figured a hat from one of those plews would be such a fancy thing to show off at rendezvous. I figured since you had obviously taken such a shine to them varmints that you would surely have a few plews hanging around yer cabin and wouldn't mind givin' part of one up fer a friend to fashion a hat. Well, I 'spect I'm moving up some over the next few days an' will be surrenderin' the bottom rung to whomsoever wants it. I didn't think you'd get all painted up over a request fer a small part of a hide. You jest keep yer pile of snow leopard plews and I'll jus' git me one o' those new hats out of London that's made out of some kind of worm poo and that that the booshway at the last rendezvous said is destroyin' the market fer beaver.

SBS ... think we should turn yclept over to the SPCA? Snow leopards can only be found in the high Himalaya mountains (Nepal/Tibet) and are about as rare a species as one can find on earth. Did not think yclept had such a low down, dirty, mean streak in him. Perhaps he was a bit high on Kickapoo Joy Juice when he thought of dismembering a snow leopard so he could have an extremely rare and Fancy cap to wear at rendezvous.

Oh, yclept, I am so sorry! Forgive me please. Although it's no excuse, I've been waging a war against that deluded Canadian mod; I'm afraid you got caught in the cross-fire. No, I don't have any snow leopard pelts. I do have plenty of mountain lion pelts if you were interested. 'Course if you've been trapping in the Rockies, you know that mountain lions are as common as the mountain goats and/or marmots. Don't blame yclept; he just wanted a prize so he could upstage his southern neighbor whom has a jackalope. I understand his desire for oneupmanship. <<mumble, mumble, friggin' Virgil has me paranoid now. He'll get his soon enough; his days of disparaging the snow leopard are numbered. >>

Well I didn't mean ta be disparagin' any animal. They all got their place and their use ('cept maybe griz -- griz is mean-tempered animals and powerful hard to kill). Some of 'em is fer eatin', some of 'em is fer making fine felt hats, an' some of 'em is fer jus' lookin' purty.
You send Virgil over here an' I'll set him to cleanin' muskrat. That'll ruffle his feathers.
Damn near hit a marmot once on the motorbike in Rocky Mountain National Park. We eventually came to an agreement as to which part of the road each of us was going to use, but he scuttled back and forth several times before he indicated which way he was going to go. He ran into the road at the last second and I presume was just going about his normal marmot business, so I'm glad I missed him (too late to brake). It wouldn't have been good for either of us -- he looked like a slippery cur.

...Methinks the relief rally is over and we can get back to the business of digging our way to a bottom. .. .Another 40 points and we break that 1250 S&P number... So, we're about 15 points away now. I've been pretty negative for the last quarter, but now I think that we're just going to be flat for a while... maybe not as long as 5 years (as 2K mentioned on the 5-15-50 thread)... but for a couple of years. I'm not nearly as worried about the double-dip as I was 6 months ago. Do you guys think I've become complacent or conned? ... Using the theory that history repeats itself, we still have about 5 years to go before the next secular bull market. Until then, it's bear to flat. (If the current Nasdaq takes as long to recover as the Dow did back in the 30s.)...
