#37- Bush made us the world's a-hole and laughingstock, and we haven't been more popular in 10 years, but thanks for the BS Pub propaganda big lie recitation.... [/quote] Yea but didn't Bush reduce the troops on the ground in the Afghan to concentrate on capturing Hussein in Iraq?? Obama approved the Afghan Surge Proposal by General Patraeus which added more brigades ..

This is one of those issues that doesn't divide nicely into "liberals" / "conservatives". Very true. Afghanistan regardless of whether we leave in two or ten years, will not become any shiny example of an exemplary country admired by any other country, and will still be a tribal country. It will rank right there with Iran, Syria, Libya, and Pakistan, and a dozen other African countries. on the bottom of the heap. We, America, cannot save the world from itself.

I say pull out 50% this summer. Pull the remainder out by EOY. Enough of wasting our money. Let the tribes fight it out! When we need to take out someone, we can send in covert ops. Much cheaper!

I would agree with you, but I would not want to be part of the 50% left there for six months. It would be like Cowboy and Indians, with the Cowboys inside the circle of wagons with the arrows flying in over the wagons.

You seriously think the USA is popular right now, War?? Be real. I just read an article yesterday that said people in Egypt prefer Osama over Obama in polls. No one in that part of the world likes us except Israel, and our gov't is pushing that relationship...

No one in that part of the world likes us because of our support for Israel.
VB. I have no problem pulling all troops out now, just think the logistics would be a nightmare.

Oh, yeah, robin-- I forgot, you are one of the ones that think if we just let them have Israel everyone will like us. Can't for the life of me figure out why people think that those that want to destroy the USA and Israel and all other non Muslim nations would like us if we throw Israel to the wolves.. That makes no sense at all if you have ever read the "mission" statements of that brand of extremism. Not going to happen any way. The USA cannot possibly give the go to another Holocaust.

I am not sure that "nightmare" is the right term. Taking into account the equipment as well as the 100,000 human beings, I don't see how it is possible to pull out all the troops "now". It isn't a MASH unit.

Yea but don't over look the fact we will still have @70,000+ troops in the Afghan from 2012 - 2014....Also will the Obama Administration ever discuss the waste and fraud in the Afghan??? How many $Billions of our tax money was stolen or given to the Taliban by the Karzai Government??

krickitt, I really don't give a damn about Israel. They are a terrorist nation and should be left to their own devices. I do not think we belong in the middle east and see no value to a strategic asset in the area. I do think we would get along better with the rest of the world if we did not support terrorist nations.
Our strategic interests lie much closer to our own back yard. Close all bases overseas. We are NOT the world's police. Disband NATO, etc. At the very least withdraw from these organizations. If other nations feel they need them, then they can have them.
