I've looked on the internet for a peach cake recipe like the one my great grandmother used to make. Unfortunately, it is lost and I can't find anything like it.
It was a 9X13 sheet cake (it was white or a light yellow color) that was very dense. It had fresh peach slices on top with some sort of white or clear glaze on top of those.
If anyone has a recipe similar to this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you apple. I don't know when the peaches were put on, I only remember always asking for a second piece. Great grandma was German so I'm going to try the cake part of the first recipe and then find a glaze recipe to put on top. It's worth a try. Thanks for your help.

It sounds like an adaptation to a pineapple upside down cake. Have a look at one of those & I'll bet you find the recipe, glaze & all, is rather similar.

Tasteofhome.com has some really yummy looking pineapple upside down cake, just not sure how dense it is, but like whisperer mentioned, is very close.

Moneywhisperer and apple, I've never had pineapple upside down cake so I never realized it was a dense cake. Thanks for the new lead!

Don't forget that the ingredients have changed over the years, most are more refined, and will make the texture of cakes different now. Also, always use JUMBO eggs in any recipe that is old...we always saved the biggest eggs for baking & ate the others.

I've made a peach cake along the lines of a pineapple upside down cake before. Used canned peaches (canned at home, but store bought will work fine)...drained of all the juice (but save it for making the cake). Mixed with melted brown sugar & butter. Put it into the bottom of a cast iron skillet and then poured the cake batter on top. I replaced the water in the cake batter with the juice from the peaches to flavor the cake.
if you wanted to glaze it, you could always mix peach juice with powdered sugar to make the peach flavored glaze.

Big thanks to everyone for your suggestions. Because of you I searched pineapple upside down cake recipes and while searching through those I saw peach upside down cake recipes. While I was looking through those I stumbled across an article about peach cakes and from there I found the recipe I was looking for! I made my own glaze that wasn't exactly like my grandma's, but the cake was the same! It was very yummy. Thanks!
