Those of you who are stalkers at the SS board (you know you like us and use our tips) know that I post there and I'm "frugal"... I had a coupon for free oatmeal at Mickey D's (no purchase required, so I didn't) so I picked some up after dropping DS off at the bus stop since it's on my way home. When I got home I had to drain it, it was like soup! I like my oatmeal (ok, confession, I hit spell check before I posted and this was originally typed as "oatmeat" LMAO ) nice and thick, I never use the amount suggested on those individual packets. The girl didn't add more water than she was supposed to, she filled it right to the marked line. After draining the oatmeal, it was actually pretty good. I've never added fresh fruit to my oatmeal before (Some foods I just don't mix--it's a texture thing) but I liked it I was just surprised that a national chain would make it so runny. So, do you like your oatmeal thick or soupy?

They probably make it so runny because water's cheaper than oatmeal... But I like me right in the middle, not too thick, not too soupy!

Thick. With frozen berries thrown on top.

Definitely thick - topped with brown sugar (if you haven't tried that, you don't know what you're missing)

Cheesy--feel free to post the recipe in your free time I think the reason I've never tried fruit on my oatmeal is because I hated the fruit flavored packets growing up. I ate the cinnamon spice and maple and brown sugar ONLY (or plain and then added my own sugar). But I loved the tartness of the apple against the sweetness of the oatmeal. I think I'll expose DS to this new way (well, new for us) of eating it, I think he'd really like it too, he loves fruit.

I always buy the plain. A sprinkle of salt and a healthy dose of cinnamon, topped with some raisins for sweetness and then, when I'm home frozen berries (I buy the big mixed bag at Costco). When I take it to work, I skip the berries and sometimes add a banana.

We always laugh at the guy eating the banana (well, not if it were on oatmeal). We are all pervs at work, we can't help it.

I like butter and brown sugar or berries in my oatmeal. But I prefer donuts for breakfast.

Cut up on the oatmeal only, you dirty dirty girl I avoid eating bananas and hot dogs at work (seriously) but I'll find a sucker and, well, suck on it just to screw with some of them. And when we have donuts at work (EFCO, I almost always prefer donuts, danishes, muffins, ice cream for breakfast too) I always get the custard filled one. That started out because I like the custard one the most (after plain, no glaze or anything, but no one ever brings those) but then I found out that drives them crazy too, so now I take my sweet time with it, enjoying every lick of that custard. (Ok, yes, I'm a horrible tease at work, and yes it's fun, but everyone knows there is a very clear line not to cross, and only one or two have ever tried to cross it--they didn't get very far) on butter and brown sugar

Thick as mud (no, not that MUD) with a few chocolate chips on top. Hey, don't knock it if you have not tried it!

I like custard fill donuts, too. I think I like apple fritters the best, then glazed. Tell me again how you enjoy your donut. Would you like to meet me for breakfast some morning?

Nancy has just found a new way for me to try chocolate chips! I put them in my banana nut bread.

We always manage to perve up an innocent thread here I just enjoy my donut as much as I can, but that custard somehow always manages to get on the tip of my fingers and I have to lick or suck it off. As for meeting up for breakfast, I'm probably just a short plain ride and TSA grope away Ok, I will try not to make this thread too dirty, I started it, I know...

I just put in a bowl to cook - all this talk about oatmeal made me want some! And I'm a sucker for the cinnamon roll flavor with lots of butter. Lets see if it turns out decent using rice milk and non-dairy butter

I cannot eat doughnuts, fritters or other fried dough. Well, I can, but my digestive system rebels at the idea. My brain loves the idea.

I pity you, nancy. I probably shouldn't eat them either, but one a week doesn't bother me.

Ah, well, EFCO, DH can eat them, so he eats one for him and one for me. There's a company that attends our local farmer's market that makes cider doughnuts with brown sugar cinammon topping. Sometimes I just stand in front of their booth and inhale. Strange how some smells are merely good, and others, like the smell of fresh doughnuts, are truly happy smells.

I put honey on my oatmeal and it has to be thick. I think I'm going to have to try the chocolate chips, don't know why I haven't thought of it before! Thanks Nancy!!
